No, Beckford was a year older than the 86 team. City were hot favourites to win it the year before.

I was at Wigan Athletic's Springfield Park in 1985 when City won the Lancashire Youth Cup final 5-1. Beckford, Moulden and White on fire!

Beckford and Moulden were amazing together and won the Central League in 1987 scoring a shed load between them.

Paul Lake can be contacted at the club. He has some contact with other ex-players. Franny Lee is now head honcho of the former players association.

I used to go out with Steve Crompton when I was 17. His family lived in Lymm and after leaving City he went to play for Carlisle, then went semi pro to Wycombe Wanderers and worked as a shop fitter, dont know what happened to him after that as we lost touch. I have a picture of the winning team somewhere in the loft.

Nice one, cheers for that mate. My memory isn't as good as yours. I used to go and watch all the youth team and reserve games back then and I remembered Beckford and Moulden together. Must have got the seasons mixed up.

Do you remember when there was the headline that Spurs had said they wanted the pair of them and told City to name their price.
