This season's been a record-breaking season in many many ways, all positive to my knowledge, but now we've won the title for the third time in our history what about the records to keep us humble, to prevent against the scourge of ragdom, and to educate any newcomers to the ranks that although we're City and we're going places, and we have a proud history as strong as any, our history also means we need to retain a self-deprecating and ironic brand of humour and a level of humility which is absent from successful London clubs, the rags and Liverpool.

  • Fewest goals scored at home in a season: 10, Manchester City (2006–07)
  • Highest percentage of season goals scored in a single game: 18.6% (8/43), Middlesbrough (8–1 vs. Manchester City, 11 May 2008)
  • Most draws in a season (42 games): 18, joint record: Manchester City (1993–94)
  • Most consecutive draws in a season (38 or 42 games): 7, joint record: Manchester City (2009–10)
  • Only reigning English champions ever to be relegated (in 1938) - scoring more goals than any other team
  • Only team to score and concede over 100 goals in the same season (1957–58)
  • Relegated team with the highest goals scored, 89, in 1926
  • Missed out on promotion the following season by 0.004 goals on goal average - the narrowest in history

I'm sure there'll be some I've missed so feel free to add any I've not come across.

Eh?

The league used to use goal average (goals scored divided by goals conceded) rather than goal difference. Our goal average was just 0.004 behind Portsmouth's in the 1926-7 season.

'Typical City' is dead. Finished. Gone.
'Typical City' now means we fight to the end. We win games and league titles in the last minutes and dying seconds of games.
The club and the team have finally ditched the 'Typical City' tag and about time us supporters did too.

I realise that...you must have edited your post, the original one made no mention of average, just said 0.004 goals...hence the eh?

No worries, I concur with your post, sadly I have seen blues becoming arrogant already, even before last weekend. The price of success I suppose....

Fergie time is now Aguero time.

Typical Cty now also has a different meaning. I.E. Villarreal, Spurs and QPR.

As someone who has been supporting City since September 1st 2008 I am shocked to discover that we have such a colourful and interesting....er....what's that word....ah yes - history.

Is this information widely available as it seems to have slipped the attention of a great deal of the media?
