I went to Xaverian College for sixth form, where Balotelli randomly turned up and went walkabout. Okay, it was 24 years too late but I'm claiming it.
I think the club went through a spell of sending academy lads to Xavs, as it was handy for Platt Lane, didn't Ned & SWP also go there?
My next door neighbour growing up was a guy called Mike Farrelly, played for Preston and later scored a winner at Wembley for Altrincham in the FA Trophy. Also played for Macc for many years.
Dave and Gary Bennett used to live opposite my primary school, used to see people like Paul Power, Dennis Tueart giving them a lift home from training. Steve MacKenzie and Roger Palmer used to be calling round there regularly.
Best of all was that for the last three years of secondary school, as ours didn't have a playing field, our weekly games lesson and many school team matches were held on the big astro pitch at Platt Lane.

Not city players but Andy Ritchie and Steve Heighway went to my school Mossely Hall in Cheadle. Not bad considering football was a no go until 5th year due to it being a good old fashioned grammar school.
Andy year below and didn't particularly stand out in the quad. He was however committed at city's training ground in Cheadle, there every night just smashing a ball left foot, right foot against a wall.

You are right about Alex Williams, also add Clive Wilson, both in the same year as my brothers.

My mum went to school with alex Williams

Played in the same school team as Roger Palmer at Wilbraham, several others followed later as mentioned - Eric Nixon (the Nixons lived off Mauldeth Rd West) Alex Williams, Clive Wilson and Jeff Whitley. Johnny Hart's son Nigel was in the same team as Roger, he wasn't as good as his brother Paul but I think he managed to eek out a career in the lower leagues. When we played Burnage we played against Ged Coyne who scored a hat trick for England boys at Wembley and was on Uniteds books, we all thought he was shite.

Not gloating about this one but played many times against Giggs both at school and local team. I was at Ambrose in Swinton,Giggs was at Moorside... Fucker scored the winner to put us out of a semi final..Will never forget that or when he scored 11 against my team Unsworth when he played for Deans.

I played against the twat aswell when he played for deans, we got beat but as least he didn't score past me
