With Barry having to see a specialist in Munich over his ligament damage, it is unknown

whether he will be fit for the beginning of the season. Is this Milner's big chance to step up

and fill in Barry's boots alongside Yaya? Or do you think Mancini doesn't rate him as highly

as characters such as De Jong, or could Martinez be bought as a long term replacement?

I remember at the end of last season some were saying it was Jimmy's season next year with

Barry on the downward track after his brilliant campaign, I really hope the lad gets his run of

games in the first team as I think he's a great central midfielder, just wasted by England on

the wings!

Milner is one of my favorite players. I have every faith he can replace Barry.

He's miles better than NDJ, and has more pace than Barry.

People have been writing Barry off in every pre season, I won't bother because he'll probably have another vital season.

As for his chances right now.... Barry, well they think will be out for 2 weeks and Milner has an extra couple of weeks off after the Euros... If he was smart, he'd come back early like Hart did while Given was still injured.

Barry's irreplaceable. I hope it's not long term because we won't come close to winning the league without him.

He is a good player, but I wouldn't go that far.

The fact that other teams have won the league without Barry suggests that he is replaceable.

I hope Milner gets a chance, it's hard to play on the wings if it's not your natural position, limited passing options and he's not the best at crosses. Fingers crossed he gets a chance although I would like to see us buy Martinez who could fill in when Yaya is at ACN.

I don't think Milner will ever be a first team regular with us,he is just short of top quality and probably his utility, while being great as squad cover, works against him.
