I think its quite plainly obvious to see where we need to improve our side and add a different element to the style we play. While i sort of agree that Mancini only has a plan A, and no plan B, this is down to the type of players we have in the squad.

One of those positions is our Defensive Midfield. While De Jong works tirelessly and puts in the effort City fans craved years ago, his one dimensional sense of play leaves his exposed at times and slows Citys attacking style of play. Barry on the other hand tries to get forward when possible and for me, was purchased by Hughes as our playmaker, something which hasnr quite gone to plan as Barrys passing seems to have crumbled a little through time. I think Barry was seen as our Xabi Alonso, as that is who Liverpool wanted him to replace, and that is the exact type of player we need. A player who can sit back, recieve the balldeep, and with a 60 yard pass turn defence into attack.

Step forward Nuri Sahin of Real Madrid. Sahin has those qualities that City were trying so hard to find in the January transfer window, and you just have to look at how much Dortmund missed him at the start of the season in the Bundesliga, although they turned that around. Its no disgrace either that this season he hasnt had much playing time either, he is afterall behind one of the best modern day players of this position in Alonso. If not Sahin, we have to find an alternative and somone for this position, it is an absolute must in the summer.

And if we are buying the above type of player we need a fast winger to compliment him and give that option. Somebody recently said Pedro of Barca, and i have to admit they dont get much faster. For me that is an incredible shout and someone i think we would have a chance of getting, especially with Sanchez, Cuenca, and soont to be Delfonsou fightin out a front 3 place with Messi.
But if we cant get Pedro then who else, there are plenty. Iturbe i have already mentioned before on this forum and another lad who is lighting up Serie B at the moment with Torino is Alen Stevanovic, a pacey and skillful winger who bags goals and assists. If you get a chance check the kid out.

Sahin should be nominated for worst career move, ever.

Not at all mate. He picked up an injury and lost fitness. His career move to Real Madrid shows that the guy has the desire and exoectation to succeed at the highest level. It is not an easy thing to do to go to a club knowing that they already have, possibly the best player in the world already in that position and challenge yourself to take that away from him. We all know how good Xabi Alonso is, and fair play to Sahin for attempting it, but with a run of games under his belt and his fitness levels back up to where they were when he was at Dortmund and youll have a player who will run the show for City.

He was awesome at Borrusia, but was overshadowed by Gotze. He didnt get the praise he deserved. He is still reletively young too, which should mean he will still improve for the future and will still have the hunger for success.

Can't see a solution to the DLP problem. Madrid probably don't want to sell Sahin. Pirlo was available last summer but went to Juve, and he is crucial for them. It's a shame, we would have won the league with him.

All that is left is second tier talent like Hernanes.

Banega would be good but I can't see this being a role that we invest a chunk of our transfer budget in, hence I think we might take up the option of signing Pizarro for cheap. That is of course unless we get a new manager with his own ideas. I wonder if Mourinho could tempt Alonso back to England if he took over?

Was thinking Banega was ideal, but didn't he run over and crush his foot? Not sure how that will affect his game.

If that hadn't happened, the solution would have been simple.

yann m'villa fits the bill for me, banega would be a risk hes got 'problems' similar to mario but is maturing. i doubt sahin will be sold sergio canales will probably be sold. i think hazard is our target for the wing. a very very unlikely but possible target is johnny williams from crystal palace already a wales u21 international. you woud be hearing a lot more about him if it wasn't for him breaking his leg, the move makes sense because of our links with palace. williams is a gem of a player imo and would be a great signing hes very young those hes the same age as denis suarez.
