And they are prepared to spend BIG.

Quote:
Porto and Brazil forward Hulk is in discussions with Chelsea regarding a move to the European champions.

The 25-year-old can also play on the wing and will be seen as a direct replacement for veteran striker Didier Drogba, who is leaving Stamford Bridge.

Hulk scored 21 goals in 38 appearances this season to help Porto to their second successive league title.

The player is currently with the Brazil squad in Germany ahead of Saturday's friendly against Denmark in Hamburg.

Hulking resemblance
Hulk, less frequently known as Givanildo Vieira de Souza, was given his nickname because of his resemblance to the actor who played the Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno

His agent Teodoro Fonseca told Brazilian media this week: "There hasn't been an official proposal so far. There has been a lot of interest in him, but it has yet to go further than that.

"All that should change next week. Besides Chelsea, there are four more English clubs interested in him.

"Porto will not let him go easily. His release clause is 100m euros [£80m], but ultimately it is the player's wish to take on another challenge that will make the difference.

"Those are the words of Porto's directors. They have said as much, and will not stand in his way, so though it will not be easy for those English clubs financially, there is room for negotiation. We can sort everything out, I am sure."

And i hope the bold isn't regarding us. Who can afford him other than us and Chelsea anyway? Name the other two who could afford the ridiculous price Porto want!

Not surprising. I hope we both spend big and see the rags to 3rd.

Replacing one big daft diving twat with another.

He is a dangerous player though when he stays on his feet.

I don't see Marin and Hulk as signings that should frighten us. Not bad players but Marin is already living on past hype and as we saw, Hulk can be contained by a good defence as he was against us. Now if United sign Hazard and Kagawa we have reason to be worried.

I really hope we aren't one of the other interested clubs.

The most overrated player in world football, fucking shite.

Did fuck all against us, we should have some more fun with him in August at Villa Park if they do sign him, I wonder if he'll complain again...

I really looked forward to, but at the same time was quite worried about how he would get on against us, after all the hype - and he was shite, thankfully. They are welcome to spunk shed loads of cash on him in my opinion.

That's not strictly true now is it. He gave Richards no end of trouble and beat him several times and one of those times resulted in a goal for them. He's over rated but he's by no means shit.

It is quite funny the only direct comparisons between him and drogba are they are big men that go to ground easy. Lescott schooled him but from what i remember he was pretty much the only potent attacking force in the team, with better players around him he may flourish but doesnt exactly strike fear into your heart does it?
