I hope so, he or Agger would be sound.

Solid defence they had last year. Can see them replacing one of them with Kelly.

Not a big Skrtel fan personally.
I do rate Agger. I cant help feeling we may be in for Skrtel though.
Pity, I think we need top quality and he's not that.

Agger is better but Skrytel was much improved mate. I have a few LFC mates all ST's and they said he was their best player last year over the course of the season. Downing the worse closely followed by Adam.

I simply think he's prem suited, not bad with injuries, consistent and could easily do a good job for us. I just don't like his disciplinary record, cool him down and we are fine.

Skrtel is a great defender but I really do rate Lescott just as much. I think Lescott's partnership with Kompany is fine and if we are going to spend big on a CB, like we will have to do to get Skrtel, we should sign someone younger such as Martinez so they can replace Lescott in the long-term. Skrtel is what, 1 or 2 years younger than Joleon, I would much prefer us to sign a younger defender.

I think you do him a disservice

Skirtel is a top centre half - not easy on the eye as ugly as they come with a face only a mother could love but no nonsence centre half with the physicality of Lescott with a little more footballing ability - certainly dont look as uncomfortable as Lescott and is better than Kolo

yes he can be a thug, and if last season was anything to go by refs will be looking to card/send off/give penalties against our players without any hesitation.
I think he is a Robert Huth type player that would do well at a mid-table team like Stoke or Fulham or even Liverpool! IMO he has not got CL winning potential.

Martin Skrtel sounds thrilled at the prospect of returning to Lollerpool...not so much a 'come and get me' plea, more a 'please release me'.

Slovakian newspaper Dennik Sport: "I am a player of Liverpool because I have a valid contract here. There exist a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward.

"We have been in talks about a new contract but it has not moved forward. At the moment I am a Liverpool player and what happens in future in football you can never foresee. Anything can happen but for now I have a valid contract and what is to come will come."

I get annoyed at the constant abuse that gets hurled around here, but seriously, are you lot fucking stupid?

Savic will never be good enough, and Vertonghen signed for Spurs almost a month ago.

Thiago Silva has gone, Vertonghen has gone...etc etc

Whoever Bobby thinks/knows he needs, he will sign, and it won't be Vertonghen and the coverage will not be Savic. Simple.

Savic will be brilliant.

And fuck off, so I forgot Vertonghen signed with Spurs, it's seems incredible anyway.

Honestly its mugs like you that are the reason people hate Americans.

Are you wumming, stupid, or a bit of both? I am not American mate, never have been, never will be...I simply live here. Hard to tell if people are taking the piss sometimes or not through the computer, but if you look to the left it says St. Mary's, where I was born, so that doesn't get more Manc really, unless one was born in Piccadilly Gardens or the bogs at Affleck's. I was not 'recruited' to play for the Blues as a teenager from America, and there is no point starting a thread because nobody really gives a shite, many people don't like me, and it would turn into chaos and get pulled in five mins. Enough of this shit.

I am always confused on what to do here. Lescott was class this past season and does quite well with Vinny. I also like having a left footed CB at his position. He is also a good guy for the locker room, seems funny and the relationship between him Micah and NDJ is great to have on a team.

That said, he scares me on the ball every time he touches it, and is so slow(see Bothroyd run in QPR game.) I love him to death but would rather see him as 3rd choice with someone more agile, fast and comfortable on the ball as the second choice back.

Someone I would love to give a shot to would be Dejan Lovren at Lyon. Young at 23, good on the ball and a great distributor, comfortable with the ball at both feet, good in the tackle, solid in the air(though not as good as Lescott.) He would be my realistic pairing with Vinny.

I agree with you to an extent, lescott has been class for us however imo his lack of ball skills and speed make me think we do need someone who is class to rotate with him for the champs leagues games especially however if your looking at bringing in somebody who is world class will they rotate? i do not think so, therefore i believe a defender who is youngish who is very good already with the potential to be world class would be the best option, maybe lovren could be that man (not seen much of him myself), as ive already stated id look at papadoplous from, schalke.

Whatever I think of Skrtel as a player (one who should probably pick up 5 more reds a season than he does), I would certainly be a lot bloody happier going into next season with him in place of Kolo or Savic. Still prefer Agger though.
