Wouldn't it be ironic after going all season as a shining example of anger management in the premiership, if Rooney were to get a yellow or red card in the forthcoming meeting with the Ukraine.

He did get a yellow in the league though.

He got one against Swansea at home (second to last game).

I bet his dad has got a few quid on him getting one against Ukraine though.

Why would it be ironic ? Please elaborate... That's really idiotic thing to say, considering that there are 4 Man City players on England squad who would love to win the Euro2012.

Have to agree with you, what a stupid thing to say. There are probably people on here wanting him to get sent off or injured. As a Englishman and a England fan I find it well and truly pathetic.

Thought the point was that Rooney gets away with an awful lot on the pitch for Man Utd. He's virtually untouchable in the Premier League as the single booking in the Premier League proves

Why would it be a problem if he got injured? He'd be subbed off. Considering Rooney has been regularly AVERAGE for the national team and we've actually looked more balance without him, it could be a good thing if he gets a 'tweak'.

The irony would be that he received a 3 match ban. The FA bent over backwards to get this reduced, with the aid of expensive lawyers etc etc. He as obviously been wet nursed by PL referees ever since. The purpose of this to show the world he's not really a bad boy, when in fact he's a cheating thug. He as screamed abuse at PL referees without so much as a raised eyebrow. If he behaves in this manner in an international game he will soon re discover the real world. If the Ukraine go in front, and there is threat of us going out, any sign of petulance would be a kick in the teeth for the FA.
