Going to likely be a poor match to judge him by given the possession Spain will likely enjoy. He's certainly going to have to make full use of any chances that fall to him but the chances of a hat trick are about as slim as they come. He's pretty much my last hope for entertainment though!

Would love to see him doing something like this again;

Just not so sure Merlin would come running to join in the celebrations!

Not a cat in hells chance of Mario ever being the player of a tournament or our player of the season.
He's far too volatile and inconsistant

I really hope for Mario to do well and silence people like you

This tournament could make him or break him. If he does well and scores goals, he can come back here and be fantastic, hitting the ground running and giving RM a hell of a selection headache.

On the other hand, if he doesn't do well, he could come back with his tail between his legs and end up being a burden and a massive distraction as his antics go from bad to worse. In which case a loan spell away would be best for all concerned.

He could be a Cantona for us, brilliant and enigmatic but he could just as likely be an also ran. A player with massive potential but who couldn't control himself and who wouldn't listen to advice or act on instructions. It looks like Mancini cuts him a hell of a lot of slack, but I hope he isn't giving him enough rope to hang himself.

One thing is for sure if he doesn't behave himself the Italian players, team, manager, fans and press will not give him anywhere near the slack we have. They just won't tolerate it and nor should they. I really hope it goes well for him but you can't help thinking it will all end it tears. I genuinely hope not for the lads sake.

three all draw this afternoon - hat-trick each for Mario and David

then one nil in the Ireland game with Dunney scoring the only goal....

...in his own net.

Booked already, albeit looked a bit harsh. Could go the same way as the Greek player.

Could that be the last we properly see of him in the tournament then? Hauled off after missing a sitter and then his replacement scores a belter within 3 minutes of coming on.

He's fucked his chance up I'd say. Was given the responsibility to lead the attack, held up play well then fucks up a sitter and gets hauled off and the sub scored within minutes. He'll have to settle for 15-20 min sub appearances now.
