Clueless

Not really. There's a reason at 31, this is his first international tounament. It shouldn't really be a surprise he looks out of his depth.

theres loads of players who only develop into good players in their later years, milito being one of them. You dont have to be 18 and world class to be great. Hes performed well for us, seems like people just dont like him, no matter how well he plays.

Bingo

If Barry had performed the same as Parker in this tournament there would be zero slagging off

If Barry had performed the same as Parker in this tournament I'd be wondering where his passing had gone since the season ended.

Barry could play 10 times better than Parker has this tournament and he'd still get slagged off.

But then again, he doesn't run around a lot, and look really tired and tackle with his head.

Eh? Milito was always a good striker, just because he didn't play for Inter till then...it's like saying Fernando Llorente is no good because he only plays for Bilbao, and is why Silva continually gets taken off ahead of Xavi, Fabregas etc. despite playing much better than them, it's the ignorance and snob value.

Very true. Parker used to wind me up, now he just makes me laugh. The bit last night when some no mark turned him inside out, and left him scrambling about like a dying fly was hilarious. Good old Scotty.

It's not Parkers fault that he is over-rated by the media and pundits, No need to criticise him for being something that he isn't.

He plays up to it. The "I'm really tired so I'll dive on my stomach, then slowly pick myself up before running on like a trooper" routine is so obvious I could set my watch by it.

Remember one post match where he had a bit of blood on his elbow, my missus walked in and the first thing she said was "he's a bit keen to make sure everyone knows he's got a sore arm".

Dont think the team be any worse off if they replaced Parker with a crash test dummy. Defenders could just throw the dummy in the way of the ball and it would offer the same going forward and at least wouldnt give the ball away as much

Conversly, if Barry had performed in this tournament like Parker, the media would be slagging him off as clueless and slow, instead of lauding him to the heavens for all the (wasted) effort and apparently last ditch (desperate) lunges he puts in - largely because of his immense lack of pace and absent positional awareness.
Watching his contribution when he had time on the ball in midfield last night truly was an education in how to go nowhere and contribute nothing whatsoever.
How the rest of the world must laugh at our wonderful new 'find.'
The story of the Emperor's new clothes came to mind - nobody would state the bleeding obvious.
Roll on Sunday when the Italians will put us out of our misery.

maybe he was good, but he was not recognised as world class, until his later years. My point being that just because your playing well when your 31, instead of when you were young doesnt make you not world class. Plenty of players take years to turn into good players

But Milito WAS playing well when he was young, that's the point.

Scott Parker isn't playing as well as he was for West Ham, the only reason he's now being talked about is hype because he moved to Spuds and played for Harry.

None of that makes him world class, Scotty has done nothing to justify that despite his big move, Milito did, again the difference.
