Correct. It's only the media and those who are brainwashed by them who think we have been genuinely realistic contenders to win a major tournament.

So you don't think that you have had a squad of players that should have been genuine contenders to win a major tournament over the past 20 years?

Genuine contenders no.

Quarter final/Semi final material? Yes. At most.

Penalty shoot out. 0-0 after extra time. Balo will take last if he scores he sends us home.

Not a chance of Joe saving it. Mario is the best penalty taker in the world.
[1] Ice runs in his veins.
[2] The ball will go far left or far right. If Hart moves it will go in the opposite corner.
[3] If Hart doesn't move the ball will go in one corner or the other and be in the back of the net before Hart can even move.
[4] Even if the turf is loosened to give Mario a poor foot-hold the ball will be dispatched accurately as he shoots with barely any back lift.

All this talk about how poor England are playing has brought back fond memories of a certain 1966 World Cup tournament. We started with a dour 0-0 draw with Uruguay, battled hard to overcome Argentina 1-0, rode our luck against Portugal, arguably the best team in the tournament, before eventually coming good in the final against the second best team. It shows that it can be done.
