Has anyone thought it might have been the managers decision to keep Ron back from taking one of the first 5 pens? Maybe he had total faith in those who took them, keeping Ronaldo back incase he needed the winning one? Not beyond the realms of possibility.

It's also possible that, given he's a spineless twat when it come to big games, and given he's missed his penalty in the the semi-final of the CL last month, and given he missed a penalty in the CL final for the rags, that he might just have wanted to hide and hope he wouldn't have to take a penalty. He can then play the big man at the end of the game. He's possibly a c***.

I think you could be off your head barm man.

Would he improve our side . . . .Yes

He would give us the pace and width we so conspicuously crave. People talk of his attitude but anyone who has played with him has always spoken highly of him. The reason I would have him over Messi is his extra power, strength and aerial presence, added to the lower risk of him feeling homesick - if he was to come back to the UK it would be because he, to some extent missed it, whereas Messi would be much more of an unknown quantity in that regard.

A front three of him, Aguero and Mario would utterly obliterate all in its path.

This is pretty much what I've always thought. People would think you were mad turning down the chance to have Messi (Slightly OT: Something popped into my head, probably the only record Ronaldo holds that Messi hasn't broken is the transfer record - Cmon Khaldoon! ;)), but Ronaldo is just built for this league. He's a near guaranteed 3 points against the bottom half of the table alone.

If it wasnt for him , Portugal would of got nowhere near the semi finals , not even out the group stage.

If I was the manager Ronaldo would take my number 5 penalty. Same with Balotelli for Italy

He is a self centered ****, but there is a science behind penalty shoot outs.

It's far better to have your most confident penalty takers at the end of the first five and your least confident at the start
A team needs the player with the most bottle taking one when the pressure is at it utmost
Anyone remember David Batty's piss poor effort in the World Cup vs Argentina when he was the last?

How do you work that out?

It's no good having the most confident players taking the last penalty's when the least confident takers have already missed.

I was like you and thought it was better for the confident players to take the early pens to try and put pressure on the opposition.
However I watched TV documentary which proved that as the shoot out progresses, the pressure builds and the chances of the least confident missing their pen massively increases

So we should alter our style of play to fit Ronaldo ?

Are you questioning Messi Aerial ability ?

If it does come down to Messi against Ronaldo, well, Messi is one of the best players in the world, but give me Ronaldo. Messi is wonderful on the right but Ronaldo is terrific on the right, the left and through the middle as well. He also scores goals with his head, which Messi couldn’t do even if they put a top hat on him

Then this happened.

As for Your unknown quantity bit well so was Aguero when he came to the prem. You know Aguero right, that shit hot little Argie bloke that's so close to Messi that Messi is in fact godfather to his son.

A front three of Aguero, Messi and Tevez would Dismantle any defence in the world.

I'd be gutted if we signed Ronaldo. He's undoubtable a great player but he's fucking dickhead. Everything he does is for the camera's, from his ridicuclous free kick routine to looking for the camera everytime the ball goes out of play. We all know that our players aren't playing for the love of the shirt but Ronaldo plays solely for himself.

I'd rather beat him (both with a stick and on the pitch) than have him join us.

Tonight v Spain I got the feeling that he just wanted to stamp his name on the tournament.
He took every free kick and made a right drama every time.
A player of this quality should be a lot less selfish.
Even saved himself for the last penalty to grab the headline.
Pissed myself when he never even got to take one .
