Wish him well, in general viral meningitis is not pleasant to get but is not usually the serious illness that people think of when talking about meningitis.
Without knowing the details most people make a full recovery.

Seems to be going around at the moment. Thats the 2nd sportsman this week I've heard of, and I have a colleague in hospital with it too.
