You are a parent Mark, are you saying you would be happy to do with your Daughter what the McCanns did with their kids that night? Leave her on her own at the age of three while you go for a meal and drink with your mates?

No, i personally wouldnt.

But its not the first time its happened and i bet it still happens now. Kids go sleep - parents pop out for a couple of hours nearby , especially in a relaxed holiday enviorment. The fact is a kid can be snatched anywhere - when a parent goes in to pay for her petrol, pub garden, kids down the park etc

Mark,

The fact remains that the McCann's and their friends had done this every night of the holiday. That's not responsible parenting.

I'd also like to know how they would have been treated if they were Wayne & Waynetta slobs, rather than upper-middle class Doctor types, as my guess is they would have been hounded out of the country.

They neglected their kids, one got snatched, and they created the environment which made that possible. Whilst it is a tragedy, it is one they helped create so my sympathy is with Maddie, not the McCann's.

Really?

Yep.

Fair enough,as ive said earlier they are a pair of twats for doing it..

However i still have sympathy for them losing their little girl..

Something doesn't seem right in this case. How many times do you hear of kids getting kidnapped from there room on holiday? Who ever took her must of known the parents left them every night on there own.

That is bad parenting though Mark its not only being kidnapped you worry about. A child can choke, slip and hit their head, have a coughing fit, drown, eat something that kills them, get electrocuted. So many factors she was 4 years old and the twins 18 months. There is no excuse for what the parents did and THAT is what they are covering up. They know they neglected their children and something fatal happened. They know this and their actions after the fact prove this. The only reason they are free is because there is no body just like the Natalee Holloway case. No body, no crime.

Are you a parent?

No but my parents worked nights when I was younger and I was tasked with looking after my siblings. I know the responsibility of watching and nuturing children.

Does one have to be a parent to understand what they did was wrong?

Not at all
But I would say that you make far too many sweeping generalisations regarding the actions of others
I'm of the opinion that they were involved in the murder of their kid
But to target all parents who leave their children somewhere whilst they may do something else is not on IMHO

Can you kindly show me please where I spoke on any other parents but the McCanns and made these generalisations you speak of?

Or is your dislike for me making you confuse me with Hez who spoke on other parents? I have focused solely of the McCanns and noone else.

There you go again!
You generalised in your previous post.

Secondly I have no dislike for you, hence you troll. It's quite sad that you don't even realise what your own actions are.

No I did not someone asked Mark if he thought the McCanns actions were acceptable and I replied that they were an example of bad parenting. You say you do not dislike me yet you accusing me of trolling and critique what I say with a firmer stance than everyone else. There are many people responding in this thread yet it my comments that warrent a warning and my comments which you pick as generalising all parents?

I have presented arguments which I am asking others to debate and rebuff yet some how again I have done something wrong? That is dislike squirty but it would be insanity to engage in an argument with a MOD as I am only going to end up losing as always.

So to clarify I was not attacking all parents only responding to the question posed to Mark regarding if he thought what the McCanns did is justifiable. They left their children unattended night after night even when the children cried and when they had a suspicion that all was not well. That is bad parenting.
