I know, I know, another console thread. Was hoping a few on here could help me out (from your own experiences) if you have owned both of the above.

I need to know, pound for pound which of the 2 are better (prices for both over here are reasonable at the mo) I need to know all the advantages disadvantages between the 2 as I have a choice to buy 1 for my up-coming birthday.

I've got both and would go for the PS3.

Blu-ray, ability to play all sorts of downloads etc...

Xbox 360.

Had both.

Had a 360 to start with, then bought a PS3, sold it and bought an Xbox again.

The online experience is just so much better on Xbox.

Got both and can't remember the last time I switched the ps3 on.

Steers and queers play Playstation, and you dont look much like a horse to me.

I've owned an Xbox 360 for nearly four years now and I can safely say...go with the PS3. If you're massively concerned about multi-player unlike myself and want to pay annually for the privilege then be my guest, but from my experience on the PSN network it's altogether not that bad. I don't understand this argument about the online experience on Playstation being bad...it's free FFS.

I'll just sum up the pros for each console then leave it to you to make your own mind up:

Xbox
-No denying the multi-player is much better.
-Probably better Console exclusives (Gears of War, Halo, Fable, Forza etc)
-User friendly interface. Dashboard is easier to navigate.

PS3
- SixAxis controllers which come bundled in the box are great for racing games.
- Internet browser.
- Design is much sleeker in my opinion (No cheesy gimmicks like with pointless Wii-esque avatars on Xbox). Games are great too it's not just style over substance 90% of the games you can get on Xbox you can also get on PS3.

PS3 has PS1 gaming backwards compatibility where as 360 will play 360 games ONLY!! PS3 is a free online gaming subscription (as long as you have internet) although it does have the tendancy to lag but I've not had problems with that for a while... Also PS3 has Blu-Ray so Blu-Ray DVD's work on it...

Xbox 360 has top notch online gaming play with little to no lagging but does require (around) a £30 subscription fee a year.
