There was a good one about Bolivia. The English bloke locked up ended up doing guided tours of the prison. Famous for visitors on the backpacking trail.

Love these and for shame its probably a case of finding someone more stupid than yourself to scratch your head at. Theres one with 2 English blokes...dumb and dumber. I think it was S.America and they got saddled (literally) with ten times the amount of coke they were supposed to carry (the details might not be correct but the premise is the same) One of the lads turned into a gun toting freak while inside, a mix of machismo and giving up hope...they both escaped in the end.

I've seen all of these and that was the best one. I think they were from Nottingham, weren't they? He'd seen this lad being all flash in a Nottingham nightclub and decided to have a bit of the action. I think it's that one anyway.

There's another one where two Irish guys working for an oil company get taken in Iraq. One of my mates over here works with the one who's fault it was.

Funny you should mention this, I'm just watching Midnight Express. Now there's a film to put you off doing dumb shit overseas.

Have you seen the Banged Up Abroad of this? It's called The Real Midnight Express. Well worth a watch.

Nottingham yep...thats the one...couldnt help feeling sorry for them but it goes to show...dangle a carrot and people will do anything for the most part. What gets me about these stories is how anyone that thinks a practically random guy in a pub is going to offer you a free holiday of a lifetime and a squillion quid for taking 20 quids worth of coke through a customs whose officers have been paid to look the other way and where no one has ever been caught before is mind bogglingly stupid.

Saw one the other week here in New York. It was about the hasidic coke smuggler. Interesting story but the story had HUGE holes and HUGE portions of bullshit. Like the guy started out doing a run to Brazil for a buddy. He did two runs then went into business for himself. He claims at first he didnt know what coke was and didnt think it was illegal-YEAH RIGHT!!!!

The film is just the basic story, a lot of what happened in the film did not really happen.

You should read the book, far, far better than the film.

Cheers. Saw it about ten years ago and noticed it was on the other night so I taped it. I'll have a look for the book and the documentary. Nightmarish stuff.

I'll vouch for that it's quality. Don't know why the film didn't mention his mate getting a sword through him? Also did one on henry hill of goodfellas

I was locked up for a couple of days in a French cop shop. They 'confiscated' all my goodies, emptied my wallet of all but 100 francs and nicked my swiss army knife before sending me on my way.

And i can tell you my arse was twitching when smuggling through Singapore and Bangkok airports.
