Think I've heard him mentioned before but don't know much about him. Looks fairly quick and quite classy from youtube, he's a 21 year old attacking midfielder and has 8 caps for Uruguay

Manchester City will make a summer bid for Bologna starlet Gaston Ramirez, reports in Italy are suggesting.

The 21-year-old fantasista is being linked with an exit despite the fact that he signed a new contract until 2016 last November.

According to stories on Monday, the Stadio Dall’Ara outfit are looking for around €15m for the player – but they are hoping a biding war could see that figure increase.

The attacking midfielder was signed by Bologna from Penarol in the summer of 2010.

Italian clubs such as Roma, Juventus, Fiorentina and Udinese showed an interest in him before the start of the present campaign.

I scouted him last year, when there was a rumor we were in for him. I saw about 6 of his games (he missed a bunch thru injury or something :( ..) He is apparently even better now than he was last year when I was watching him. Haven't seen him this year. Quick, skillful and good vision. He didn't look like a bonafide star to me. But then he was only 20, and leading a team.

By the way, he had a couple of other young guys on his team. All of whom might go on to greater things. 3 or 4 of them looked really good.

He just said we were linked to him last year, so he watched some of his games......

If you believe the reports, we failed to sign him last year as his team wanted more money:

Nope! But if you play on a big team in any of the other major leagues (excluding France and including Portugal, Holland and Belgium) I have probably seen you play. If you have been linked to City in the past, I have probably gone to source out games on you. If you play against one of the big teams in CL or Europa, very likely I have seen you some. If you played in a continental tourney, Africa, S. America, Asia, Euros, and there were raves about you, I have probably seen you play. If you play in any of the youth World Cups, I probably saw you play.

I am not just a City fan. I am a football fan!

Currently watching Bologna vs. Juventus, the 2nd half is just starting if anyone wants to find a stream (I'm watching it on LiveOnlineFooty). Anyway, Ramirez is by far the best player on the pitch so far and set up the only goal for Di Vaio. But I'm not sure how we'd accommodate another attacking midfielder in our squad with Silva and Nasri already here.

Is it us or Liverpool?

Liverpool FC target Gaston Ramirez subject of €20m bid from English club

Bologna have received a bid worth nearly €20million for playmaker Gaston Ramirez, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, his agent has revealed.

The Uruguayan forward has been on Liverpool's radar for some time, while Chelsea and Manchester United are believed to have sent scouts to Italy earlier this year to watch him in action.

Several Serie A sides are have also been linked with the midfielder, including Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli, while reports in Germany last week suggested Bayern Munich are also showing interest.

It has been thought for some time that Liverpool were frontrunners to sign the Uruguay international, and based on comments made by agent Pablo Bentancur, his client could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

However, reports in Italy suggest Manchester City and Tottenham are ready to enter the race to sign the 21-year-old.

"Bologna have received an offer near to 20 million Euros from an important club in the Premier League," Bentancur was quoted by talkSPORT as saying.

"Bologna will decide at the end of the season what they are going to do."

His comments come days after Corriere dello Sport reported that Bentancur had met with Bologna officials to let them know of bids from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham.

Bentancur had already revealed last month that he had been holding talks with "a major English side."

Speaking to Calciomercato, he said: "I can tell you with certainty that there are negotiations ongoing in Buenos Aires with a major English side which is ready to buy both the 70 per cent owned by Bologna and the 30 per cent of Penarol.

"There are other clubs interested, like Juventus, but the only concrete offer comes from England and I will soon bring it to Bologna.

"Will Ramirez leave next summer? Given the amount of clubs interested, I would say yes."
