Disagree - the point made about team shape was spot on IMO.

Good for you. But I stand by point.

You really don't like being disagreed with ..... :)

I love it. Adore it. And I am always open to a change of view but it usually takes a little more than "I think he was spot on" to do as such.

I agreed with everything they said, apart from the 5 in 5 out bit. They are right about Balo, mancini doesn't play a consistent team like other clubs, and we have been in 5 cups and look set to win nothing. No anti city from them today it was all true.

Really? Mancini doesn't know his best team? Mario doesn't score enough? Hmm

the bit when he said about not playing our best team when possible was right. mario being a spoilt brat was right. end of the day it's their opinion, everyone has a different opinion and on the whole i thought they spoke alot of sence for a change. yes i didn't agree with some of it but the majority i thought was spot on. it's all well and good resting players but look at your barca's and madrids they play their strongest possible team week in week out, same as spurs, arsenal, united. so why doesn't mancini. i think thats what they was getting at about him not knowing his best possible team

But they don't play there best teams every week Wenger never has played his best team in the CC cup neither does fergie

The point is mate, you stated "Mancini spends hours on team shape" - which doesn't really negate the point that the panel were making about our lack of team shape in match situations. Particularly last weekend against Sunderland, where they seemed far better drilled and far more aware of what they were supposed to do, where they were supposed to be on the pitch and how effective it could be. We had all four of our "attacking" players playing all over the pitch. The interchangeability of our attacking players is indeed a joy to watch when they are well drilled and know what they're doing - but as was seemingly the case last weekend - there was little cohesion to their movement which resulted in a distinct lack of shape to the team and to our play.

You see, that's far better. While I was at the game I can't remember well enough the movement as I was busily getting irate, swearing at everyone and calling Mancini a gutless **** as the season evaporated before me eyes. I haven't watched it back (nor even the highlights) due to a continued sense of points lost.

But I would say "Did the players not know the shape or did they just have an off day"?

What's the point? No matter what names I post, someone will find a sycophantic way of sticking up for each player I name just so they can have a go at Merson. But what the hell.

Kolo Toure
Nigel de Jong
Adam Johnson
Carlos Tevez
Edin Dzeko
Stefan Savic (but on loan).

To hopefully be replaced by:

A potentially world class CB - Subotic, Hummels, Vertonghen, for example. Vertonghen would be ideal due to being from Belgium (as is Vinnie).

Someone who can do a similar job to de Jong, but who can move the ball quicker. I've put de Jong in the list of people to go because I don't think he wants to be here anymore.

A world class winger or two, maybe even bringing back Weiss would be a better option than AJ. But Lavezzi, Hazard and Gaitan are all worthy replacements.

I've put Dzeko and Tevez down because I don't think either of them want to be here. Bringing back Guidetti and maybe going for some kind of swap deal for Dzeko/Tevez might keep the net spend down and significantly improve our attack at the same time.
