I hope you lot are all so cheerful when you get to the pearly gates and St. Peter tells you all to bugger off downstairs with your civil partnerships and bad aids. Today is not just about chocolate and a long weekend you know.

I have to agree with uber blue, biggest lie ever believed. If you took the bible literally the world would be a crazy place. A boat big enough for 2 of every animal FFS?!! Dying on a cross and returning?!! That's where George Romero must have got his ideas from.

Exactly. For that matter, what's the difference between believing in David Icke and the Risen One?

to be honest, there's only one resurrection i'm interested in today.

".....and Joseph spoke to the Heathens massed on the banks of the Irwell River and showed them the error of their ways. 'Go forth and witness the miracle in the capital'. And the masses did howl in derision led in unison by a furious man with a purple nose, but they did as they were told to and went back to their homes and looked towards the SKY.
The blessed one, who had been mocked and humiliated then led his apostles into a cacophony of noise and hostility. There, the blessed remained calm in the face of evil. The events were described as an outrage by one doubting Thomas in the commentary box. However, led by Carlos, who had betrayed his Lord three times (the demanding at the Boleyn, the throwing of the scarf on the way to the sacred cup and the 160 days and 160 nights in the wilderness) began his penance with a brace.
And three days later, the apostles returned as heroes as the Heathens went to face Whelan the Conqueror who showed them the error of their ways.
The resurrection was almost complete........."

The Christian birth and death stories are ripped off from Hinduism and Buddhism probably brought to Judea by merchants and then amalgamated into the Jesus lifeline, just as the Norse and Germanic Saxon myths were adopted by medieval monks to form our Christian festivals. for example

In Buddhist texts Maya is said to have had an immaculate conception, with some similarities to Mary's conception of Jesus in biblical accounts. A white elephant was said to have entered her side during a dream. When she awoke she found that she was pregnant. As it was traditional to give birth in the homeland of the father, Queen Maya journeyed to Devadaha. However she was forced to give birth en route, in the Lumbini grove. It is said that the Devas presided over the birth and that two streams, one cool and one hot, flowed down from the heavens. and so when he died it was said he was reincarnated (resurrected) in a new form days later as a new Buddha, which is still believed with the Dalai Lama today.
