i think dzeko will leave and guidetti will replace him and i think tevez will leave aswell remy would be a good replacement hes got a lot of pace and we could probably sign him for less than 20 million as marseille wont qaulify for the champions league next season as they've had a poor league campaign. could also be used as a winger but hes very pacy and gifted and hes the sort of player we need.

we'll raise around 40 million from tevez and dzeko, we could afford a midfielder and remy with that money and we'll still have to cough up around 30 million for hazard. we have to spend within our means nowadays also remy is proven hes a french international and has played in the champions league. van persie is too expensive and higuian wont be sold as real have already said he wont.

Spurs bid for Loic Remy may be wrecked by big-spending Manchester City

James Olley

23 May 2012

Tottenham are set to face competition from champions Manchester City in their bid to sign Marseille striker Loic Remy.

Manager Harry Redknapp has identified Remy as his top transfer target and negotiations have been ongoing over a deal worth about £20million.

Standard Sport understands talks have slowed as a fee and terms are yet to be finalised and City are weighing up an offer for the Frenchman.

AC Milan and Juventus are also monitoring the situation but the 25-year-old has privately indicated his desire to move to the Premier League.

Concrete interest from City would come as a huge blow to Tottenham given their rivals’ huge spending power but the club remain confident they are in pole position to land their man.

Spurs are desperate to bolster their strikeforce and Remy has indicated that he is not averse to moving to White Hart Lane despite the absence of Champions League football again next season.

Remy scored 22 goals in 47 games for Marseille last season and it is believed that Spurs met with the player last week for talks that, according to one source, “progressed positively without reaching a definitive conclusion”.

City manager Roberto Mancini plans to add to his strikers after landing the club’s first top-flight title in 44 years and their financial might would enable them to comfortably outbid Spurs.

But it is understood that the player is concerned whether he would be a regular at the Etihad Stadium and is leaning towards playing in London.

All parties are hopeful of concluding a deal before Euro 2012 but Spurs are making better progress with Jan Vertonghen’s proposed move from Ajax.

The centre-back is keen on a switch to Spurs despite interest from Arsenal and Newcastle and terms are thought to have been completed.

The two clubs are yet to agree a fee, however, with Spurs reluctant to offer more than £9.6m and the Dutch club holding out for £12.1m.

Well written article that (not). So Spurs want him but if we make a bid we'll financially muscle Spurs out of the running, but Spurs are confident of getting him anyway. He wants to go to London for regular football but if City want him they'll probably get him! Do you think the dick who wrote that read it back after he'd made it up?

Aren't we more likely to be calling Spurs bluff as they said they have no money to buy Adebayor

Medical would be a dodgy one, doesn't he have persistent heart problems? I'd rather go after a big name on this one given the fees outgoing strikers are likely to demand.

Remy doesn't score enough to be worth the hassle, he's never even scored more than 15 league goals in a season in France and is 25. We have four strikers with better goals-per-games records. Actually five if you include Guidetti's season at Feyenoord. This is a non-starter IMO, he'll be a good signing for a Premier League club but we have better and can buy better.
