Mansour believes the Blues have a chance of winning this year's title

Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and owner of English Premier League club Manchester City, believes the Blues have a chance of winning this year's title — but added that he was very satisfied even if they failed to do so.

Manchester United's 4-4 draw at home to Everton on Sunday, coupled with City's 2-0 victory over Wolves, has given Shaikh Mansour's club, who topped the table for most of the season before a recent stumble, a chance to snatch the title off their city rivals.

City will go into Monday's derby at the Etihad Stadium knowing that three wins from their final three games will be enough to make them league champions for the first time in 44 years.

Their superior goal difference to United — six goals — means they are likely to top the table even if the cross-city rivals finish with the same number of points.

Speaking to Abu Dhabi TV before the President's Cup final at the Zayed Sports City Stadium yesterday, Shaikh Mansour said: "The difference is three points and we do have a chance. But whatever happens and even if we don't win I am very happy and satisfied with the players, the team and the management. "They have performed very well and have improved in their last few matches."

City host their rivals on April 30 in what is set to be a decisive showdown and the sheikh indicated: "The City/United derby will be important. I think the gap will close to less than three points. The last two matches of both teams will be decisive in designating the champions."
