If McClean wanted to play for ROI so much why did he allow himself to come right through Northern Irish system up to under 21 level and then jump ship? simple answer is he wouldnt have got a look in down south as a youngster.
Latest twitter showed him holding a Free Derry ornament knowing it would cause offence and then he disrespects the country of his birth.
Niall McGinn and Paddy McCourt both play for Celtic and committed themselevs to country of their birth ie Northern Ireland and nooone who attends the games does anything less than cheer them.
Lennons problems came about because he said he would rather play for an all Ireland team.
There are other Cathoilc players on theteam as well who are well supported by the fans.
Unfortunately it is McClean and Lennon who appear to be two of many who get mixed up in their sectarian heads as to where they were born

Lennon wanting to play for a united Ireland makes him sectarian? lmao, the shit he got for that was fucking unreal, he had to retire... its a joke and if you think McLean has brought this on himself then your as bad as the ones threatening him

Dont remember threatening him in what I wrote but of course living in Glasgow you have a better grasp of all things Northern Irish than i do so fair play to you.

there is a big problem with the north investing time and money into youth and then watching the south cherry pick the best talent.

If and when Vinny lifts the Premiership trophy on Sunday but then picks up a mic and declares to the sadium that he wishes it was with United that he was doing this how would everyone feel?
Thats how we feel about the poaching that goes on. If you want to play for ROI fine, just dont waste our FAs time and money

So you would be happy for one Manchester team to be formed then with Bacon face as manager and playing at the Swamp?

Made me think of my dad!
Every time the BBC news called it Derry, he'd ring up and demand they called it Londonderry!

Haha my Dad would go off on one and tell them to call it Derry if they called it Londonderry. They're good for a laugh the Irish :)

The thing is not just McClean there has been others who have got hassle from deciding to play for Ireland instead of N Ireland. Look at Gibson he got the same shit when he decided to play for Ireland. Even Marc Wilson pulled out of the Ireland v N Ireland game knowing that he would of got a load of shit if he played for Ireland in that game.
They werent the first or the last players to declare for Ireland from the North. Old City defender Alan Kernaghan done it and he was the one who started the ball rolling with players declaring for Ireland from the North.

To be honest I wouldnt mind seeing a United Ireland football team it wont happen for years but we are united in every other sport bar football in this country.

If he was brought up in NI, and played for their youth set up, then decided to play for the Republic he will know the abuse he'll get. However, if he then goes on Twatter and holds a Free Derry ornament he should expect death threats.....that kind of thing goes on, and he bloody well knows it. He actually sounds like a complete tool to me.

As part of the Good Friday Agreement people are entitled to dual nationality and therefore its their choice. As long as thats there FIFA will not get involved, as far as coming through youth infrastructures, it a bit much to be asking a 12-14 kid what country they wish to declare for.

International football is becoming a bit of a joke anyway I mean McGeady is Scottish and Patterson for N.Ireland is english for christ sake!
