I enjoyed this more, and better still it stung the Rags. However, the 99 game was more important for the club. If we didn't win the league this year, then we'd definitely do it next, or maybe the year after. God only knows where this club would be if Dickov didn't bag that late goal in 99 though....Christ it doesn't bear thinking about.

Sunday was better because no-one gave a monkeys in 99 only us. This time the whole world saw it and were amazed!

Are we related?

For those that didn't get to witness 99 this was the same for me in terms of emotions...the consequences are equally significant but for different reasons

We still had to win the game after Dickov's goal. When Aguero's went in we went from losers to winners in an instant. That moment was certainly greater than in 99. And on Sunday it was also a contest against United.

99 might have been more significant but if we had lost we probably wouldnt have seen it that way at the time. Horrendous, but just one more season in Div 3 rather than a terminal event.

I wonder how much better off the club will be by winning it the way we did rather than cruising to the title? There must have been millions around the world that saw the end of the game and many will be buying City shirts. Plus the added impact on the kids, the next generation of City fans, and our casual fans in this country.

Two great days but Sunday was better.
Had we failed on Sunday we would have been tagged as chokers and the effect on next year would have been awful. Even if we were x points clear we would have been waiting to fail.

The whole world saw our strength on Sunday and the effect is hugely positive in several ways eg. More revenue, players wanting to come here, FFP less troublesome.

Only negative is season ticket prices are part of that increase in revenue.

Yes.

Partly because we won the league on Sunday - for me, the ultimate prize.

Also because we didn't know what laid in store for us after '99. I don't reckon many of us thought we'd finish second the following season, whereas now I think we can assume that the future is secure. I think that knowledge about the future allows you to enjoy the present a little more.

This was the best for me, and unlikely to ever be bettered....

Can't quite believe that in the last 12 months or so I've seen us beat the scum at Wembley, win the FA Cup at Wembley, beat the scum 6-1 at the swamp and then Sunday.

Unbelievable Jeff.

For me the day topped '99 and I for one never thought I would say that...
I will never dispute the importance of Dickov's goal to secure our future but to win the league, last minute, rip it out of United's hands, do it in front of our own fans in Manchester, well it just can't get any better than that.

Forgive me if this has already been raised elsewhere but has anyone else seen similarities in Dickov and Agueros goals? Wembley was a long ball forward but once it drops to Balo/Goater its a little slide rule pass past the last defender and Aguero/Dickov become legends. Immense.
