After Colin Bell , Kaziu Deyna was one of the most talented people I saw in the City shirt. An incredible talent and sadly died far too young. Good to see that he is still adored in Poland and the video above is amazing, never seen that before.

Totally agree. I to had the pleasure of watching Deyna in the sky blue shirt. A great great player, who died in such tragic circumstances. People on this forum sing the praises of Gio Kinkladze frequently. And yes he is a rich part of our history. But for me Kaziu Deyna was at least his equal. Anyone who can finish third behind Cruyff and Beckenbauer fof European Footballer of the Year can't be that bad !

100% in agreement. Those of us who had the fortune to see Kaziu Deyna would have to say that the man had incredible talent.

It was a real eye-opener to be in Warsaw for his testimonial and to see how the guy was literally worshipped by the Legia fans. It was on a par with how City fans at the time loved Colin Bell.

A wonderful, wonderful player, one of my boyhood heroes. It was so exciting when he signed, it felt as though we were going up another level in terms of excellence. He was one of those footballers that always had an individual profile when the newspapers did 'players to watch' features coming into international tournaments.

'Whom the gods love, die young.'

Cracking, cracking player. He was just on another wavelength to most of the others we had at the time, which meant he didn't quite gell with the team. A lot of the fans seemed to think that because of this he was useless. Whereas it was really a bit like having Silva play with Bury's team, if you know what I mean.

I thought he was way past his best when we signed him & struggled to keep pace with our league, although some of his finishes were memorable.

Fantastic player previous to that though, one of the greats.

Yep got to agree will all of the above. I remember being in awe as a kid of this huge European star at our club.

Thank you for posting the second part of the video, it's excellent .

He scored some really important goals for us and sad that he was only with us for such a short space of time. He wouldn't look out of place in the current team and would be laying them on a plate for Sergio. Immense vision and probably the greatest ever Polish player.

I once wrote a piece on him for the fanzine BTH but can't find it anywhere.

Good read that and I still have Kazi's autograph from when I was a kid meeting him outside Maine Road. I think one of the few things missing from around our own stadium is a couple of statues. The obvious ones would be Bell, Lee and Summerbee but i'd prefer to see something done like two great goalkeepers together Swift and Trautmann. Malcolm Allison needs something as we have a great mosaic of Mercer although I really think there should be a statue of him instead?

Nice idea, it would be fitting tribute to those blues who are at legend status.

I remember this too, was in the last couple of minutes of a 2-3 defeat (but don't quote me on that).
True we didn't see him in his prime years at City, but still a pleasure to watch a master at work, he really was a special player in his day.
