What are the connotations for England qualification tonight

if France and England both win then what scores are needed for England to finish top?

I think England need to score 2 more goals than france to avoid QF defeat to Spain

I think, as France's GF v GA is 3-1 and England's is 4-3, we just have to better France's result.

So if France win 1-0 and we win 2-0, I think we would top the group on goals scored since the GD will be the same.

If England qualify, I fancy them to get past Spain. They have only really looked good against Ireland, who were woeful.

A 1-0 French win and a 2-0 English win would give us both +3 Goal Difference (4-1 for France, 6-3 for England), England would finish top of the group by virtue of scoring 6 times compared with France's 4 times.

He's almost right, bettering France's result should be enough to win the group, the only proviso is if the French score 1 more than we do in the process. For example if we win 2-0 and the French win 3-2 then that gives us both +3 Goal Difference, we've both scored 6 times and conceded 3. However, even in this scenario, I think UEFA use FIFA Wrld reankings to separate the teams, and England are ranked higher than the French. However should England win 2-0 and the French win 4-3 then they would win the group by virtue of scoring more goals (7 to England's 6), however that's highly unlikely.

Qualification from the group is much easier to quantify, we just need to avoid defeat to the Ukraine.

The fact i read it wrong had a lot to do with my reply and i apologise the the poster for that. I dont think France will win against Sweden, they are a lot better than there no points total. I expect a draw in both games

France (2-0 & 1-1) = 3-1 (GD = 2)
England (3-2 & 1-1 = 4-3 (GD = 1)

France beat Sweden 1-0 (3-1 & 1-0) = 4-1 (GD = 3)
England beat Ukraine 2-0 (4-3 & 2-0) = 6-3 (GD = 3)

England top group as head to head with France is the same, as is GD, but England have scored more.

Unless I've royally fucked up somewhere?
