The army are providing up to 3500 troops for the Olympics amid fears that G4S cannot cope.
I think this could damage our tourism industry. What are tourist going to think , seeing armed troops on the streets of London ?

Why the hell did we take on the Olympics if we are concerned about security.
After 7/7 we should've stood well back from this event.Think of the money the gov would have saved.

Why do people moan about troops on the streets? How will it put people off coming? never heard so much nonsense. Hotels will be booked, flights booked, tickets booked costing thousands of pounds, then because the country is upping security with troops on the street people somehow won't turn up?

Being fair its completely understandable that G4S havent got time to train enough people up, I mean how dare they just spring this surprise Olympics on them!!!

As for the army on the streets it wouldnt put me off going visiting another country so cant really see why it would put people off from coming over here.

Its a shame we're in full employment in this country and being paid £10 an hour couldnt tempt anyone to do the G4S jobs....

Bit shocking that they couldnt fill these roles. Apparently people are still applying for the jobs, which takes 6 weeks to process and the games start in 2 weeks! Remember, isnt G4S just the rebrand of the prisoner 'release' company Group 4?!

As for the troops, they wont be in full fatigues, I can imagine they'll be in some watered down uniform, or probably even G4S uniform.

Got my email about going to the footy at OT as a spectator. It read like the process to enter a nuclear facility instead of a football match.

Ive missed all this, but I thought it was illegal for armed troops to be on the streets? Only police are allowed carry arms.

The government needs to put the army on the streets once in a while to show the people who's boss.
