Newcastle?? we outsung them all game at their place last season

Not surprising as quite a few of those I was speaking to before the game wanted us to win the league and felt that the Chumps League would have been bad for their club as they felt they couldnt compete on two major fronts, Europa they were going to take as a few good away days on the piss, whereas every City fan (at least in the away end) was wanting to cheer the lads on to the title.

We have this debate every few weeks in various guises. Is it better than Maine Road, isn't the atmosphere crap etc etc.

For me, recent games such as Hamburg, the derbies, (especially second half in the cup game)Lisbon, QPR have all been better than anything I remember at Maine Road, and I was going there from the early 70s until the final season.

Last derby at Maine Road was superb, but many many other games were very poor

The atmosphere at football in the modern era is generally shit. Nowhere is a cauldron of noise on a regular basis. Some are up for it in one off games for many reasons. We aren't as bad as most to be fair. Whoever mentioned villa as being loud must be joking. Must have been to villa park a dozen times and the atmoshpere's always been awful.

I've always been a fan of being right in the thick of it when it comes to football atmosphere! Used to stand in the kippax, then the north stand at Maine road and now am a south stander at the etihad!

We have had some good nights at the new ground Hamburg Home, Derby day, Arsenal at home etc. but I've always been disappointed with the lack of atmosphere at city in recent years!

With being the current champions do you think this will improve the general atmosphere at the ground?

Let's get the ground rocking again like the old days!

Bring on the Champions!!!!!

We've always been pretty much the same away from home: an okay set of fans, who make some noise and travel in fairly good numbers. Nothing more, nothing less. That never really changes. We sometimes have atmospheres like we did at Blackburn and Norwich last season where we were excellent, but we also have some where we don't sell out and hardly sing at all.

At home we can be distinctly average, often, shite!

I thought the season before last we had a decent atmosphere at the CoMS. We still had the numerous songs around the 35 years without a trophy that used to be sung for extended periods. We also had the Poznań and the excitement and noise that came with that. For me, the 2010-11 season was our best for atmosphere in many years.

After we won the FA Cup at the end of that season we lost about ten songs. Add to that the great start we had to last season and we replaced them with really shit chants like "we'll score when we want" that many people hated, and people also thought they were 'too cool' to do the Poznań. Overall we lost a hell of a lot of the humour and fun from our atmosphere at the Etihad. For me, the 2011-12 season was our worst for atmosphere in many years.

Hopefully we can replace the lost, self deprecating chants with some decent ones over the coming years.

In my experience though, apart from the promotion season under Keegan, I've never been highly impressed with us as a set of atmosphere making fans. We're just okay.

on th whole we have better atmosphere than most ! the seats and no tradtion for a singin end has spoiled things over the years, but south stand and kippax bringing it back... best atmospher was derby game, smoke bombs have been coming in and look great... away games always good, keep up the poznan and we signed kun !

the worse games i thought were europe, the foriegners embarressed us at home, we where flat !

Best home atmosphere: Second half of FA Cup derby
Best away atmosphere: Blackburn Away

Both of these show how good we can be, moreover, I feel that our away following is one of the best in the league and at home we can be extremely good.

Yes, as you say, for you. Most people I suspect, will not agree that 11/12 was our worst for atmosphere but our best or second best since moving to Eastlands.

but we still have the best atmosphere in the league

Lol.

To be fair, most honest fans of other clubs that attend games seemed to say that we were second best atmos to Swansea and second best atmos season before last with Blackpool getting best atmos. Id say we were up there, but we still need to improve. The likes of Chelsea,Arsenal,Rags, Scouse red are piss poor. The likes of Stoke,QPR and Norwich seemed the best last season. We were defo up there though.Id say us playtin Europian clubs in the last 5 years or so had helped us improve.
