A great effort from PB et al but we are still waiting for a decent response from the BBC. Whilst pleased that Vicky Kloss actually gave a reply, I was completely underwhelmed by it. I suppose she has to play the long game with various media organisations and can't go overboard on one instance. As regards the generic BBC reply to various complainants, I understand why they do that and don't want to give individualised replies to numerous versions of the same complaint. After all, given the prominence of the BBC and with declining quality and numerous examples of bias they must be inundated with complaints. However I cannot understand how Vicky can be satisfied with the BBC response.
Of course the post should have been and was removed but the offence had already been made and taken by then as intended. With the added benefit to the weasels involved of evidence of City fans appearing, in the weasels' eyes, to be overly sensitive and unable to take a joke. Pete was the primary target and I haven't read anything to say how he feels about it but let's not forget that we were, as City fans, all intended targets. In fact I'm sure that was the main intention. Taking such an embarassing post down is not exactly a hardship never mind a punishment for a deliberately pathetic personal slur on an old man by a publicly funded national body.
The lies and obfuscation in the BBC reply not only negated any attempt to explain or apologise but added significant further offence and compounded the lack of respect for Pete and all City fans shown in the original post. Great work done by some BM members has given us proof of these lies. By digging such a hole, Ms Tsang has surely made this issue much bigger than it originally was.
What also, in my eyes, makes this issue greater than just the post is that it highlights editorial failings within the BBC. A simple apology would not suffice, they need to demonstrate that they are taking it seriously enough and show what they are doing to prevent similar issues happening in the future.
Another aspect that needs to be highlighted is that it was not just a BBC Sports issue, the post was specifically branded MOTD by coming from an official MOTD account. Surely it is no coincidence that this came from a programme that appears completely biased against City on a weekly basis.To take the most recent example, the highlights of last weekend's game against Swansea was completely distorted compared to both possession and chances created, Gabby Logan's preposterous and untruthful comment on the atmosphere and the lack of any analysis on Sterling's yellow card following yet another penalty not given. We hear they like a narrative on MOTD. Well what about one of England's best young players, who happens to be the most fouled in the PL this season, not being given clear penalties in consecutive home games and indeed being wrongly punished.
Good luck to those who are continuing with their complaints. Facts and tenacity are a potent combination of weapons.
