I haven't gone round accusing you of being a rag because you like SSL3, though, that's the difference.

Never been in SSL3. My comments related to the fact our 20 year old stadium is much better than you deem it to be

It's not poking fun, I don't like the way the stadium is designed or looks, and think other teams have better stadiums. It's a valid opinion, but mature intelligent people would just disagree rather than look like idiots by trying to frame someone as a rag to try and discredit the fact they don't like the stadium design.

So you don't think it was good business sense by our previous regime - i.e. Franny Lee & co to take over the commonwealth stadium to replace Maine Road? And you think it would have been good business sense for our new owners to rip down a perfectly good stadium rather than plan 2 fabulous extensions? Guess that's why SM is successful & our club has become a global commercial success as well as winning 2 league titles - unlike Arsenal who spent their efforts (& money) building a new stadium.

Whose fans are happier (apart from you of course)

I'll take a top-class team over a top-class stadium every time. It'd be nice to have both but I'm not bothered if the stadium has to wait a few years.

We WILL have both,it's just a question of time.

Once the standing issue is resolved & plans for the 'Destination' leisure resort are confirmed with world class, elite brand partners ie Ferrari World, announced, the 'Etihad Brand Wrap' will transform the appearance.

If you look at The Abu Dhabi owned projects across the Middle East & Asia, including Kuala Lumpur (Burj Khalifa),you'll know that HH Sheikh Mansour will not accept second best in anything

Was at the etihad on Wednesday and have to say there's a bit of building work going on around the south stand, not sure if it is any prep work in particular, but was interesting to see a people working, it was mainly outside A Turnstile

Which turnstile? :)

That'd be the North Stand.

that roof corner bodge annoys me every time, it's dreadful.

Incorrect about a bodge.

They're temporary designs, made to easily be removed in years to come when the side stands come under construction.

The current roof supports come in through the corners, so from an engineering standpoint there wasn't anything else which could be done.

Most of the temporary corner supports will be covered up with the screens when they move them up from the north side when they put a third tier at that end.

It may annoy you but it's only a short/medium term hindrance. Once the same is done at the other end the roof across the East and west stands will be replaced - which are poor quality and will only last another 7 years or so - followed by a probable extension of the 3rd tiers in the corners plus a wrap on the outside and the capability to put a fourth tier in along each side.

@BJL_City Still not seeing what you see...

I think everyone knows it's a bit of a bodge, and I sit under one of them. But we all believe it's only temporary - even if temporary is 10 years. The long term plan is allegedly to have a ground big enough to host a Champions league final and if that's the case East and West will need some £299 seats at the back as well as the extra tier on the North Stand and that will lead to a whole new roof.

We're looking at a great present and wonderful future. While the sun's setting on the 'istorie' boys who can only look at what they've done the dawn is just breaking for us..

Important to remember as well when discussing the 'faults' of the stadium that the only stadium better than ours in the PL is the Emirates, even then we have advantages over it such as being closer to the pitch.

The Etihad will look absolutely brilliant inside with the North Stand extended and a screen covering the temporary corner supports in each corner as well.
