Gibbs - No red card?

Who's going to be the video ref though, a former referee? NBC had Dermot Gallagher in the studio and he shamelessly backed the fucker to the hilt over the yellow card. It's accountability and transparency we need as well as technology.
just the same as rugby and cricket and it works a treat,

No idea about cricket and league but the referees are held to account by a neutral body in union, it's ridiculous letting the refs effectively do their own performance reviews via the PGMOL.

How do so many other sports get it right more often than not. Is it because their referees are not glorified by the media?

i'm sure the powers that be whether that be fifa, uefa,fa etc will establish the ground rules, the thing is like in cricket and rugby we can all see what is going on so they have nowhere to hide but to give the correct decision.
you only have to give a decision in the first instance and then go upstairs and say "any reason for me not give the decision" it great in rugby and cricket.

It's technology and a culture of transparency - refereeing in Rugby Union was woeful for errors, especially around the scrum or ruck and with tries - there's still the odd decision you could question but most of them are 50/50s that the ref has to go one way or the other on.

Exactly this - post-match interview to explain the rationale behind his decision. Couldn't get away with the same crap week in, week out. No chance of that though methinks.

video technology is a must, too many wrong decisions are being made by inept officials

the game had stopped for the foul, all he had to do is 30 seconds with the fourth official just like the viewing public did on sky knew that was a straight red

It doesn't stop inept officials being in charge of the video.

soon be changed when the whole viewing public can see what they see and the clattenburg excuse of not seeing it etc

like i say it works in cricket and rugby

Sorry. I was just being sarcastic. Expect Red Howie to be put in charge.
The two sports you mention are a lot more ethical than the twats at the top of football.
Too many troughs and tongues.

The chance to look closely at the refs was here when Halsey said he was told to pretend he hadn't seen stuff, that was so quick under the carpet never to be seen again, video reffing and it being played back on the screen will never happen, the powers that be won't allow it
