Last Film You Saw

I edited to add High planes drifter which is also very good.

He's been in Hollywood for over 50 years now. A giant of the big screen.

I've posted this before but love this story by Tom Hanks

Oh fuck I forgot High Plains Drifter. I may have been thinking of that when I said Hang em High. Is that the one with the dwarf called Mortacai(sp)?

Great film. I remember feeling very uncomfortable when he raped the town whore. It's Clint ffs, and he's raping a woman! The first anti hero I remember watching.

Its a shocking start for sure, but when you figure out who he is and why he's doing what he's doing, its far more understandable.

There might be better action heroes over the years, in terms of physicality there definitely has been, but nobody touches Clint for cool when it comes to shooting someone dead.

Love him. One of Hollywoods greatest ever action heroes. Never watched watched Rawhide, but I remember my mum telling me about him playing Rowdy Yates in it. Way before the Blues Brothers gave him a mention.

If you read his discography, it dawns on you how many great films he's been in and directed, not just action films either, of course there are a few turkeys but what actor hasnt got a few shit ones in there, but not many can trump him when it comes to number of hit films, either commercial and/or critical acclaim. Not bad for a bloke who speaks very quietly, squints a bit with the odd growl and apparently has no range.

In the 70s, 80's and early 90's, he was the man. The absolute top fucking banana.

After watching For A Few Dollars More last night, tonight I have watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Sergio Leone

Utter classics, Clint at his very best.

"There are 2 kinds of people in this world, those with loaded guns and those who dig.... you dig"

Ennio Morricone is an absolute genius as well

The Dollars Trilogy are absolute classics but one thing thats bugged me about them for years is the so supposed chronology of them.

I know they came out in 'Fistful of Dollars, A few Dollars More, then the Good, the Bad and the Ugly' order but ....

from the beginning of 'the Good, the Bad and the Ugly', he wears a long 'duster' type coat and only gets rid of it near the end when he covers the dieing soldier with it and then picks up the 'famous' poncho next to him.

At the beginning of a 'Fistful of Dollars' he rides into the village wearing the 'famous' poncho, so does this make the 'Good, Bad & Ugly' the first film of the Trilogy?
And if so, wtf did he do with all the gold?

Not forgetting this century either, Mystic River, Gran Torino, Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima, Sully, American Sniper, amongst others, 86 and still going strong.

I must admit to being disappointed with Gran Torino. I wanted to like it, but apart from a couple of scenes it was pretty shite imo.

There is no chronology to them, they are supposed to be separate characters, all with no name, not the same person. However, he is called Joe in Dollars, Manco in More and Blondie in TGTBTU. It is argued he is Joe 'Blondie' Manco in all 3 but Leone didnt intend them to be the same person throughout.

A mystery that should stay unsolved imo! keep digging and the scent of a cigarillo may waft past your nose and you may find yourself looking down the barrel of a very steady held revolver 'you can stop digging little man' or something as his line :-D

I've been whistling this tune all day after watching last night, great ending

No doubt will be whistling this tomorrow

Haha, yeah i suppose you're right.
Remember it being discussed at length a few times in my younger days, when me & mates used to pile back to someones house for a smoke after the pub.

Predator 2 to me was kinda worrying regarding society. As i lived as a kid with IRA bombings a few times a year in places where my mum had taken me shopping it seemed a natural progression tbh. Of course a child's mind was at full whizz here watching the film, it still made me think a bit though.

Haha, now that is some fine post piss up chatter tbf @Ghandi's Flip Flops I find myself analyzing the consistency of costume departments regarding their guns and such. They are usually pretty good and often look real, probably are. Like when you get a first person view of the poor sod about to cop it from a Clint help firearm. You don't get that kind of choreography much these days and it was very effective. That said we must remember the fine as fuck music accompanying the film which i guess helps in that respect.
