With services like Netflix and Spotify in movies and music, football is really lagging behind technically and in affordable for White Van Man and working class folk who can't afford the Prawn Sandwich brigade of 3K a year to watch their team.

We keep hearing about how the bubble will burst in football etc and nothing ever happens, but is football becoming less appealing now?

I don't blame the FA and Premier League one bit.. I blame these greedy, self-centered, egotistical footballers especially the young talent who haven't proven anything driving around like they are Lionel Messi !! this is where the fans anger and rage needs to be directed, at their so-called "Heroes"...
 
Nobody is "forced" to watch Illegal streams (it isn't oxygen especially when you have Gary and the Boys on Match of the Day for free), it's wrong no matter how you look at it.. of course BT and Sky who pay a fortune want to protect their investments.. BLAME the football players you love and talk endlessly about - they are the Real Villains here !

This generation is so entitled and feel like they are owed everything. Bragging about using illegal streams and boasting about never stopping it isn't going to help. I read people who post stuff like that and hope they get a lesson and the police crack down on them because yes football is overpriced but so is certain items in the shop but doesn't give you the right to go and steal them does it!? it's the social media/Twitter generation who feel they are protected just because they are behind a computer screen !
 
Pointless, waste of money.
It's like the Govts war on drugs.... Pointless!

People will always stream, finding more ways and the more the Prem /FA fight this the more people who hadn't streamed before will become aware of streaming and decide to try it for themselves.

Why don't they stop being greedy bastards and introduce official online subscriptions, like what's seen in The UFC and NHL, WWE and so on... Where you can watch whatever you want, when you want, at a reasonable price.

The NHL and UFC services are superb
 
They need to make it more affordable and more accessible. These exclusive TV deals mean you need to have both Sky and BT to watch all your team's games in this country, which costs thousands a year. Even then you don't get to watch all the games because ridiculous rules like the 3PM blackout.

This happened with Music and TV shows/films already, and there it was proven that services like Netflix and Spotify can largely solve the piracy issue. How long do we have to wait for something similar with football? In America their NFL streaming service is superb, we need something like that here.
 
If you are such a law abiding citizen how would this would even effect you. May i ask your actual grievance?

Beyond that....they won't stop streaming :-D

Exactly. I think every top football league should offer some kind of online package to watch matches. Offer it in HD and people will pay. Would prefer to pay and watch a top quality match then stream for free in lower quality and/or deal with buffering.

The top leagues should offer this world wide, they would bring in a lot of money. With the option of paying for a particular match or a monthly fee for the league. Something like £3-4 a match and £20-30 a month for everything would be reasonable and very popular everywhere.

The only issue is that this would mean much lower revenue for companies like Sky so they would be reluctant to support this.

Agree that something needs to be done and HD streaming is the way forward, if the FA had any sense they would look at teaming up with one of the terrestrial tv channels and offer this service. It would sell like hot cakes. The FA would make vast sums that could be pumped into grass roots football up and down the country
