Arsenal Post Match Thread.

So near, and yet so far, but part of me thinks a little less caution and trusting Kompany with Stones, and giving Zab more time would have given us the points. It took a while for Pep to realise why Hart would have been better than Bravo, now he needs to give Kompany a chance, but with Chelsea next, who knows? For me this was the third waste of two valuable points in a row, I think it is all in the head, one more goal against Stoke, Monaco, Liverpool and Arsenal, which in every case was entirely within our grasp, would have made such a difference to the next few weeks, I wonder if Pep is really convinced about the potential of the players he already had at his disposal at the start of the season?

Yep I'd agree , some big big decisions to make has Pep

Pep will sort it, he's had 12 months with the team, he knows who isn't going to cut it, 4 hungry players in that team we have will transform us, he can only work with the players he has and for now some aren't good enough...FOR NOW...
2 off those are already signed but on the treatment table

Guess Wembley will be half full for the Semi-Final after that showing.
Arse were there for taking but City do not have the players to play 'Pep's Way '.

He half pulls out of tackles , his passing was fucking shocking at times today , Aguero gets lambasted for allegedly not performing to Peps standards , well Kevin is nowhere near good enough in certain aspects of his game for a real Pep player- he deserves stick for it tbh, every time he loses the ball he ambles back half speed.

It's a team of prima donnas, they think they've fucking made it signing for City.

Unfortunately, that's the problem. Some players have a real winning mentality and work ethos but others just show up, think the odd great pass here and there is enough and that's all you have to do. he isn't alone either! Since we signed the mainstay of our side, A hungry Kompany, Zab, silva and Aguero and point to prove Toure, too many of our "big" signings have been like this.

Lol. Yes Navas and Dihno was the problem today surely. Its not like it was the 12 year experienced LB that didn't move up with the defense line or Yaya and Debryune on the other.

Navas was one of our better player in the night. In spite of picking up an early yellow.

. And what does this performance have to do with Dihno's excellent performance the last time out?

I get it. You have you believe and even if the facts don't agree with it, you'll push it anyway. Carry on. You have a supporter in pudge who was pushing that narrative hard on the game thread.

Navas won more ball than any other player on the park and as many key passes as any other player.

Really?? I keep hearing what a great manager Pep is but not seen any evidence of that so far. We've been bang average all season and almost every time we get an opportunity, like today, we blow it. Some of his decisions are pretty mystifying and I'm yet to be convinced, e.g. the whole goalkeeper fiasco, the stupid insistence on playing out from the back, the total lack of defensive understanding, the Toure fiasco, the way he over complicates everything and confuses the fook out of everyone etc etc. Yet apparently it's all ok cos it's Pep and he'll sort it all out next season.

We are lacking guts, belief, heart, conviction, some leaders and physicality. We play ok in patches but we never seem to carry it on, to grab games by the scruff of the neck, to die for the cause. We lack that nasty, snarling fight, that arrogance, that swagger that all great teams have. We have a few coasters who think one good pass and run now and then is ok, they need to graft and just refuse to be bettered and bullied and beaten. Too nice and mentally and at times physically weak. You know going into these games how they will pan out it is so frustrating. Major surgery needed close season with some mental strength and courage as important as skill in the new additions.

I few weeks ago I was talking to someone who said the players love pep and would walk through glass for him!
A few weeks ago as well? Maybe someone's having a windup on City fans there making stories up haha.

I dunno it wasn't great today but hardly a disaster, we looked scared to commit to attack for fear of conceding at the other end and we looked leggy all over the pitch, it's not the first time our players have come back from international duty like that, luckily Arsenal looked worse in that respect in some periods of that game.

Dont like to give out but Pep he is a brilliant coach won everything he could as a coach but today it was like the team was on there summer holidays to me. Go to win the fucking game go at it and go for it. We lacked a lot today no real tempo passing at times were shocking Yaya poor at times on the ball. Sterling going off as a tactical move surprising to bring Yaya on. No forward player on the bench too to come on.

Aguero , KDB , YAYA all looked out on there feet at times during the game. The defence we all know its a shambles but fuck me to concede from a set piece is really really bad not picking up the runner crazy. Arsenal were there for the taking points dropped again.

1 more thing ref another game were we should of had a penalty yet not given. I was happy to see Pep coming out and complaining about it. It is those decisions we have not had in this run could you imagine we got both in the last 2 games leading to 2 goals its a extra 4 points and a different type of game on Wednesday. I wouldnt be shocked if we do turn Chelsea over its coming our luck has to change again.

I still rate De bruyne very highly and believe he will be a leader in the team for the foreseeable future. At the moment though he's just shot of confidence and belief in himself and has become a big liability in the team for the position he plays and doesn't produce those moments like he did for the first goal enough to compensate for that. He's been like this for a good month or two now and its starting to get really troubling.

Sterling as well for the first half applied himself poorly. Normally you would rarely fault him for a lack of effort even when he doesn't perform but his application today was really not good enough. He was at fault more than navas for most of the chances that were being conceded in the first half as he offered no help at all. I'm willing to guess he's still carrying a bit of fatigue from the international break otherwise he needs a talking to.

With all that being said he still was clean through in behind twice when both times the pass to him by silva and de bruyne respectively were overhit and took him wide. His runs were still a threat in behind for them in that half. That threat was basically non-existent in the second half and it was left to navas to fashion chances for the team and apart from one good cross to aguero nothing else came from that side as de bruyne offered nothing there. Nolito should've been on for sterling and swapped wings with sane. He couldn't have been any worse than de bruyne on that side.

Again this is on Pep. Silva should be the one playing deep and Debryune next to Aguero or out wide and Setting next to Aguero. Why Pep has continued to play him deeper is beyond me. Silva controls the play better and Keg is a better shooter and quick release creator which means swapping them will make a huge difference.

i was being ironic, so easy to say these negative things, without any objective evidence of said negative. The football we play is very good, would some of the moaners prefer the turgid fare being served up at the swamp. The tactics of the rags away to a good side is to kick fuck out of them, knowing, the refs will be kind to the biggest club on earth

Average performance or not ref does his job we get a penalty at the end and Yaya slots it in securing us the 3 points. That's Arsenal, Cheslsea, Liverpool and Spuds where we should have had the win if the useless refs could do their fucking jobs.
