Chelsea (a) post match thread

Awful season it's turning out to be.... Pep just can't sort that defense out....

BT calling it a master class. I think Chelsea are efficient and do what they do well but it's hardly block buster football. We flattered to deceive but we have dominated them for 180 minutes but got fuck all to show for our dominance. Season is pittering out - lose at Wembley and we'll be looking for the transfer window.

I'm not sure how much difference a fair ref would have made in that second half but he made it so much easier for them allowing the likes of Luiz and Kané to commit foul after foul to break up play in the final third. Would we have been awarded a penalty had our player been taken down like Pedro was? I doubt it and that's not even a joke, it was a penalty but it wouldn't have been awarded in our favour.

Goodish first half in that we created chances but two awful goals. Second half we struggled to get through their back 8.

Shocking miss by Stones.

Dean the epitome of inconsistent refereeing. Kante kicked lumps out of Silva but was booked in the final seconds.

Our midfield needs fixing this summer as well as full backs.

Dull pragmatism wins the day again. At least it wasn't corrupt officiating for a change.

And season's like this are what happen when you play nicely with UEFA and other clubs and don't say fuck off to everyone and sign whoever the fuck we need even if a selling club doesn't want to sell or a rival puts in a huge bid. Money wins titles. They got Hazard, Costa, Luiz and Fabregas and we signed too many squad players and average players now out on loan.

We need to buy the absolute best full backs in the world whatever the cost, plus a dominant midfielder as good as someone like Yaya or Gerrard or Lampard in their prime, if such a player exists. But cost should be no object, otherwise we'll fall short again next season and the whole point of waiting for Pep so long will have been a waste of time.

whatever happens clichy should never wear a city shirt again.

in all honesty I don't think pep has a Scooby do about what is required to win a prem game. ok have this season but much much more is expected next season.

Don't we need more than just a manager with a cheque book. This squad has severely underperformed on Pep's watch.

It was a clinic by Chelsea and this game shows why they deserve to be champions. Another disappointing result but it has been a common theme these season. The players looked mentally exhausted and confused at the moment and it showed throughout the match. So nothing new in this game- Loose defending, bad misfortune thing i.e extremely unlucky (with injuries), missing a lot of chances, leading players suffering mentally; officials being biased and unfair and a generally unhealthy spirit.

The goal as it has been for a while now remains- Fight for a top 4 finish and next season will be a new chapter and things will be better.

KDB is a mystery.

He gives the ball away, slows play down, doesn't tackle or track back - yet he is capable of playing fantastic passes better than almost anyone else.

However talented he is he's also a flaky player who's as soft as they come.

A lot will be said tonight, but we were the better side and didn't deserve to lose.

Such a bitter pill to swallow, the whole damn thing.

it does show you that as much as you can have all the free flowing football you want, titles are won on sound defensive players.....I wouldn't want to play like chelsea but there back 4 can all defend whereas ours for the most of the season have been really poor....and our GK situation needs to be addressed as number one priority in the summer..neither are good enough. Some questioned the dropping of hart but we backed pep due to his need for keepers who could use their feet.....btu neither of ours at present are very good at the most basic job with their hands....

They parked the bus and we had no answer

we played well but we lacked that spark......sane was poor tonight as was KDB - two players who we need to be stepping up (not so much sane) - KDB in particular needs to be dropped..he has been really poor for a while now.

Navas - well we all know his limitations which are considerable. He has never done anything to dispel those and tonight was no different

Positives were Kompany and Delph (a bit limited player but did his job well tonight...long term he aint what is needed though). Great to see a commanding performance from Kompany again...loked knackered and understandably rusty but still by far our best defender and his distribution was fantastic as well.....Stones could learn a lot from watching how to battle physically with a player like Costa as Kompany did all night....

we need to finish top 4 and its going to the wire....

Slow, ponderous, lack of invention. Sane was poor but that's probably down to being well shackled. Great to see Kompany throwing himself about with abandon

We'll see if sane can become world class as this is how teams will shape up against him at the very top... confident he can do it

As for that lacklustre last 30 minutes, it was more down to pep, KDB struggled, again, throughout. It actually cried out for yaya this, the pace he could of handled as they were happy to sit back!

We have some bang average players but my word haven't we half sacrificed some footballing basics for a more pure passing and attacking game.

Poor leadership, poor set-pieces, poor defensive unity and just pass, pass, pass around the opposition box until we can find a way of passing the ball into the goal.

Like I said in the pre match. Home banker.

This team lacks character and fight and that is one thing I never thought I'd see under Guardiola.

We blamed last year's team on being a reflection of the manager, it's only fair that we are fair here. It's rudderless. It's got no fight.

Once again we find ourselves in a scrap for 4th place. 14 points behind Chelsea. That is unforgivable
