It's Quiet - a new dawn

The issue is going to be money. Players who are good enough for us are all going to be in excess of 40 million pounds. Especially in those key positions. Financially i'm not sure we can do 8 first team players this summer without at least one if not two being bargains (under 20 million). I expect we'll spend probably gross close to 250 million. That's six 40 million pound players on average plus a 10 million bargain thrown in.

We may need to have our biggest over gross spend if we're not to have another season of good football but with obvious flaws in the team.

We should however pick up decentish fees from the sales of Nasri, Hart, Bony, Mangala, Denayer and Adarabioyo plus I would expect Fernando, Nolito and maybe Kolarov out the door. There is also huge room on our wage bill with Yaya, Clichy, Zabaleta, Sagna, Caballero and Navas all out the door.

If we do get Pickford and Walker, like I said yesterday, I think Pep is going down the Pochettino road of building a team around a core set of English players.

I wouldn't rule out Barkley personally.

Jesus Christ if we sign Pickford I'm done.

He's no better than Angus Gunn, all he's had is the opportunity to play, unlike Gunn who was told to reject championship loans to stay close to the first team and learn off Pep and Bravo.

Have to agree with you sick buying other teams english players! PLAY our young players for Fcucks sake!!!!!

The thing with Pickford is wasnt our Gunn ahead of him in the England U21s? Yes he looks good but there have been countless keepers from poor sides who look good because of the amount of shots they face. He hasnt shown much ball playing ability (partially due to Sunderland tactics) whereas Gunn has been with Pep for a year plus was already decent on the ball beforehand.

If we are going to sign Pickford we might as well have just kept Joe imo.

If the Pep factor brought in Stones, Kevin, Raheem, Jesus and Sane then I imagine we are in for a fantastic summer of arrivals now he has his feet well and truly under the table. In the meantime we are going to be linked with every player under the sun. Saying that I really hope we don't waste our budget on Pickford and Walker....

this is all starting to sound abit meh so hopefully some of the names mentioned turn out to be bollocks

@domalino You're perpetuating this fallacy that VK would add points. I think you even claimed 10. The fact of the matter is that nothing at all changed since he's been back. We lost to arsenal twice and chelsea as well. It's total speculation and a borderline myth from my POV. Factually it's flat wrong but we don't have a large sample size to confirm that.

Spend 250 million and watch the already appalling reffing of our matches get even worse.

One of the reasons that Spurs are popular in the media is that they haven't thrown ludicrous amounts of money at building their team.

I mean Alli played for Milton Keynesand he cost 5 million!!

This isn't fantasy football. Both of those players are an upgrade on those already in the positions.

I remember the Walker tweet well and that's why our fans don't like him. He was gutted to lose against us.

Y'know what? I want that player. I want a player that does not like losing. A player that will run his ass off for the team.

And he also held his hand up after the Raheem foul this year and said he got away with one.

Yeah, I'll have that attitude in a heartbeat if Pep thinks bringing him in strengtens us in an area where we are clearly weak.

It's a Sunderland source though.

Plenty of City sources, and even the player himself, are on Ederson to City. There's way too much smoke for no fire on that.

Meanwhile Pickford hasn't been linked to City in an age. Today's Express links him to Everton and, on Sunday, BR said he's off to Arsenal.
Could it be both?

Firstly we didn't lose to Arsenal twice.

He's been back for 3 games, and 2 were Chelsea away and Arsenal at Wembley. I personally see a massive improvement in the shape and organisation of the centre-backs since he's come back, Otamendi has probably had his best games of the season, as opposed to the first Chelsea game when he single handed decided the game by falling to pieces.

I would suggest anyone who thinks the defence doesn't look better with him in should spend less time looking at the score line and more actually looking at the defending going on.

Factually it's flat wrong

It's an opinion, as is yours that it's not true, there are no facts either way, so claiming it's "factually" wrong we'd have done better with VK fit all season is ridiculous.

Ederson ----》 Pickford
Bonucci ----》?
Fabinho ----》 Walker
Isco ----》 W. Carvalho
Mbappé ----》?
Sanchez ----》?

Yeah, this doesn't really fill me with confidence.

Pickford to City is what Sunderland are saying. I won't say who at Sunderland but someone who would know absolutely.
Aye. Cheers for the info, sounds like it's pretty reasonable from what you say. Was just pointing out it would be a little amusing if we end up with Pickford instead of Ederson, given that he's been our "nailed on" transfer according to a lot on here.

Think it's worth taking everything read on here with a large pinch of salt, no doubting it's all passed on with good intentions but clearly we've not got Pep or Txiki posting on here, so it's never going to be the most up-to-date stuff. Still interesting to read nonetheless.

Isco looks like he is signing a new deal according to Marca today and Fabinho doesn't want to be a fullback anymore if you off the reports.

Ederson ----》 Pickford
Bonucci ----》 Gibson
Fabinho ----》 Walker
Isco ----》 W. Carvalho
Mbappé ----》 Fernando Llorente
Sanchez ----》 Roberts

Yeah, this doesn't really fill me with confidence.
There you go sorted. If we can just snap up Moreno from liverpool for left back we'll have our business sorted early.

I misread the gamelog and thought he was in the lineup in the arsenal 2-2 draw. Whoops! With Kompany.

Chelsea L: 1-2
Arsenal L: 1-2
Everton D: 1-1

Last year
Liverpool L: 0-3
Liverpool Cup: D 1-1
Totty L: 1-2

It's 11v11 of course...but with VK it's a fact that nothing changed.

Who's mentioning Carvalho? He's being scouted by Tony Pulis and the only connection with us is his agent is Pep's brother.
