Duncan Castles literally spits out Fabinho, Kimmich, Alves and Bellerin in the same article.

So? He's one of the best fullbacks of the last 15 years and is the prototypical Guardiola fullback. No one else has ever been as good at the positioning, joining midfield but also going wide when the wingers come in than Alves was.

We bought Maicon a year after Bale ruined him and everyone knew his legs had gone, Alves was one of Barcelona's most important players last season, he's lining up in a CL semi next week and his legs definitely haven't gone. Players age at a different rate and all of the things that set Alves above the rest were technical or mental, not physical.

No one is saying get him and play him 3x a week all season, I've said get him in and let him mentor a kid like Bellerin or Maffeo or whoever we get, and let them learn off the right back who I bet Guardiola would call one of the best to ever play the position.
That's fair enough. It's just that I always worry about everyone we are linked with, by finding a comparison we've signed in the past, that didn't work out very well. I should know better at my age.....

Just came across this.

This is from last year.

So related to the question of whether Pickford is a "Pep" keepes...On Football Manager only four Keepers have a better passing rating: Bravo, Ter Stegen, and Valencia's Keeper.

Interesting.

The issue with Pickford is that nobody will know how truly good he is until he moves to a better and more stable club with a defence that can hold its own as well.

At the moment any goal that he concedes it's pretty much getting blamed on the Sunderland defence rather than him.

He has impressed me though, some of his shot stopping is Joe Hart of a few years ago.

I said a few days ago on here, Peter Shilton got relegated with Stoke before getting picked up by Forest. He ended up going on to cement himself as arguably the best GK in Europe.

What is football manager?

Computer Game. Fifa is the game that you get if you actually want to play football. Football Manager is a Manager simulation game. There are plenty on here who will mock me for even bringing this up...but their stats are very good. About 8 years ago I know Everton signed a deal where they would have access to their database for their own scouting purposes.

Cheers.

Interested in Youri Tielemans, if so, good. Class midfield player & only 19.

Good range of vision, awareness and passing. Not sure about his defensive play.

Wonder how much he would cost to buy?

Aleix Garcia I had high hopes for but this is fading as he is just not getting game time. Surely Pep knows whether he is of the standard he is looking for based on training & the limited match time has had.

Very delighted by Tielemans rumour. Somehow forgot about him as he plays in an inferior league, but he's surely one of the best [really] available options on the market for a right-sided No8 playing slightly deeper (Xavi-role). Get him and some good pivot, and our midfield is ready for the next season. Replacing Silva is another problem, but I think it can wait a year at least.

Agree, be interesting to see what happens with Aleix and Patrick Roberts in the summer in terms of maybe now coming in to the fold full time. I agree about Silva as well, we will have to start looking soon and for a player that can unlock defences like he can will be a big ask. I know we have Diaz in the youth setup but he wont be ready for next season

well we need a second Silva, because we looked largely useless on Thursday without that creativity. It's a shame Nasri couldn't be arsed, and Isco doesn't want to come.

Am i the only one who reads threads from where i left off the night before ?
:} Not always but I do if I'm going to post just to check what I'm about to say hasn't been said or answered. I'm always amazed when I read a post and think if you'd just looked back a couple of pages you wouldn't have posted that.
