What I'm simply implying is that it would be unfair to exonerate Txixi whilst blaming Pep if things go wrong. They both are a huge factor to our success as a club next season and if Pep chooses the wrong players favouring a style of play without giving thought to the uniqueness of the premiership and the need to tweak things a little, if it doesn't work out, I'm sure he himself would admit that he got things wrong. On the other hand, when Txixi gets things wrong, he should also be blamed. I'll give you two examples. I know there were reports that Pellers pushed for Bony instead of Dybala and looking back we all admit it was a fatal error. Another one that comes to mind is the decision to go for Mangala when the opportunity arose to sign Sanchez. I know there was FFP and that we needed someone to partner Kompany and all that but I believe we didn't help ourselves there. World class players dont get avaliable for reasonable sums often. I'm sure if it was one of the clubs we aspire to be as successful as, they would have gone for Sanchez and perhaps converted a midfielder or a full back to a defender if they were shackled with the same FFP. I'll give you another example. Real Madrid president would not mind showing the door to his beloved Rafa Benitez if that would mean keeping Isco. RM decided against going for Pogba last summer and that decision was largely because of the same man. I have a few other examples but I wouldn't bore you any further. Presidents, Sporting directors, etc get invloved in their clubs transfer dealings so much because they recognise that every wrong decision would come back to them.

Earlier this week Tolmie hinted that we'd get vast sums from Aguero which would help to bankroll our transfers this summer but that seems not to be the case now with revent reports that Aguero is staying so are we really going to spend on all these players in one window?

@tolmie's hairdoo also mentioned forget all numbers previously mentioned as all bets are off and we will be even bigger than expected this summer? As best as they can pep will get who he wants this summer and Isco might not come as might none of them but they are the strongest links and if the club want to win the champions league then that's the minimum calibre of player we need to sign.

I don't think Aguero staying will affect our budget. It might mean we won't go for someone like Mbappe, Neymar or even Sanchez.

I agree with @Maldeika, Bayern have been poor domestically this year. I was at their game against Ingolstadt in February and they looked like a team full of individuals, rather than the well-oiled side under Guardiola. They scored two goals after the 89th minute to win 2-0, but on another day it probably should have been a draw. It wouldn't surprise me if Leipzig won the league next season - they're boss, Ralph Hasenhüttl, is destined for the top.

Interestingly enough about Leipzig, despite finishing 2nd, they might not be able to play in the Champions League. Due to that part ownership rule, only one of them and RB Salzburg are able to compete in the CL. I believe UEFA choose the side who finished higher, and Salzburg have just won the Austrian league.
 
If Leipzig do not play Champions League maybe we can sign one of their players. Have we been linked with any of their players?
 
So we've lost the battle for both Sead Kolasinac (Free) and Youri Tielemans (21M) ... Brilliant. Can't wait for us to Sign someone in the ranks of Wilshere for 40

As I said, Txiki takes a fair share of the blame for Bony. However, you can't make players come here who don't want to come, whether it's Sanchez(back then), Isco, Laporte or Bonucci. We have ambitious targets and have gone without precisely because we haven't always bought Plan B.

Txiki backed the manager in signing bony! And it's true what you say, the club have chased big names in the past but they haven't wanted to come? Not much we could have done much about that? With pep here now hopefully that will change!
 
I'm surprised at how quiet it's been about Rulli (unless I've missed something?). I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Willy leave and be replaced by Rulli this season because it was reported when we signed him then sold him last year that we had a fairly low buy-back clause.

No, though they've got some good young players, I'm not sure if anyone would be a priority over our other targets. Naby Keita would be a good pick, Emil Forsberg too, but neither would be automatic inclusions.

Kolasinac wasn't anything even approaching a battle. He wouldn't be first choice LB here while Arsenal can guarantee he'll start a majority of games and are willing to pay him as such. For a rumoured £150,000 a week, they're welcome to him.

Were we ever in on Tielemans? Don't think there was much to say we were. Let him perform at Monaco and prove himself there before making a move though, makes sense for a player at his age and stage.

I've had a sneaking suspicion on this since October, but based on yesterday's performance does anyone think Kasper played himself into Pep's/Txixi's thoughts?

Young for a keeper, experienced, homegrown and was passing it around really well yesterday. Very gettable.

I do think rags will make a desperate move for him to appease fans when the donut thief leaves, but yesterday may have gotten our lads thinking.

I'd hope our transfer strategy is more consolidated than "yesterday may have gotten our lads thinking". Has he been showing it over a full season? If so he might be in the plans, if not then we'll already be looking elsewhere surely.

No, 30 (31 in November) isn't young for any position.
