Re that first comment - you are wrong clearly - IMO. I most certainly answered Len's post - you were probably not able to recognise / understand a post that was factual and containing substance - my apology for not using a paste from the Guardian or a GIF
I would love to get into a debate with you on that subject and stand ready
But - seeing as you seem to be 'up for it' - why not try entering into a debate with me on the Labour 'policy' on Brexit? You could start by answering point 3 of my post on page 184 and I will take it from there - we will all be able to see just how much 'substance' you actually have
Re the 2nd point - that is why I am so keen to see the UK leave the EU. I am looking after my daughter's future and have, IMO, the capability to think and assess what is best for her.
If I was selfish, or a faux socialist, and only thought of what is best for my own investments and pensions over the short - medium term I would support Remaining
Don't kid yourself you voted for your daughters future, you gambled and your bluff carried the day but now the consequences kick in. Future generations will scarcely believe this folly.
I've no idea how old you are but it may require the older generation to shuffle off before this disaster can be rectified. You are uncharacteristically right when you state Brexit will not make this country richer in the short to medium term, no credible source believes Brexit will boost our GDP. But you seem remarkably relaxed about the long term, which is strange, considering whatever fanciful Brexit nirvana you believe in awaits, by your own admission, on the far horizon. If such a place exists, it is a very, very long way off.
For my sins I've read the rag bag excuses you've used to justify your little englander position, but in the here and now, we are most likely going to hand victory to a neo liberal government hell bent on pulling us out of the EU on the harshest terms possible, or do you still believe that the professional classes (with skills honed from the private sector) will pull off a blinder behind closed doors, while the rest of us stand outside anxiously waiting to see what colour the smoke will be that drifts across from Brussels.
I will never tire of reminding you Mr Pragmatic that we are about to depart from the most successful trading bloc in the world, with nothing more than a cake and eat it strategy.
You and your family might well have the wherewithal to weather this storm but many do not. The very fact that you state.....
If I was selfish, or a faux socialist, and only thought of what is best for my own investments and pensions over the short - medium term I would support Remaining
Shows you know that, and yet you still voted leave in the hope, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, that there's a pot a gold somewhere at the end of this shambles for your daughter! The mind boggles! It's as if a bunch of neo liberal knownothings discovered a thick seam of stupid and sprinkled it with dreams of Empire 2.0, added a pinch of good old fashioned xenophobia and found a formula to pull of an enormous con job.
I hope you have a nice trust fund for your kid, she's going to need it and a search for any distant Irish relatives might be a good idea, an Irish passport might well be a gift that keeps on giving for what lies ahead.
