No you are wrong Royal Family here are United fans. United in era of Fergie was considered as significance of youth promotion but City sign of consumerism. Pep liked here because of Croyff's legacy, but there is stilli nefative bias against City. Hope Van Dijk signing will avoid it.

İ want this signing very much. I live in Utrecht and here in Netherlands almost every football fan dislike City and had sympathy to United. But Van Dijk is considered as next big player here. Hope Van Dijk will wear Man City shirt.

Great defender. But a bit surprised. Would have thought Pep wanted a left-footed CB. I know Van Dijk usually plays LCB. But he is still right-footed.

Maybe because if the reports are true, the club has already agreed on a deal with Atletico Madrid to buy Lucas Hernandez next year. He's a left footed centreback who can also play left back, a 22 year old replacement for Kolarov.

Simply going on last season, Ota was the far better defender, so why so eager to sell?

Otamendi is simply not world class and never will be. Sure he looks great next to Kompany as would practically every defender. I see some are quoting stats here. Please go watch his performance against Chelsea at home and more importantly Monaco at home which was probably one of the worst performances I have every seen of a "top" CB, I was hoping he would be subbed off, absolutely terrible. Rashford, an average striker absolutely embarrassed Otamendi a few times as well when we played the rags at home, could of easily conceded a goal. I actually don't mind him staying but its much better to sell him while he still has decent value on the market. My main issue with Otamendi is he is inconsistent, can be top class one day, league one quality another, at his age this is unacceptable for a club with our ambitions.

Like I said we have a great group of CBs if we sign VVD and to add, Mendy can probably fill in at CB if needed, he has all the attributes.

For those who remember call him Bert from his namesake Dick Van Dyke.

He's the complete package for a defender, he's a two footed player and before the wise cracks is strong playing on either foot, he's also good at making runs into midfield and creating space for others, he's a danger in the oppositions box on corners, he's no slouch, good at reading the game and covers the fullbacks well when out of position.

In other words he ticks all Peps boxes and is no surprise that he holds him in high regard.

Not really. Who's the better passer, the guy with 80% pass completion, who's passes are probing forward passes, or the guy with 85% completion who just passes sideways or backwards?

Stats don't tell everything, unless it's distance covered for example.
