It's Quiet - a new dawn

I suspect when the dust settles on this summer's window the overwhelming emotion of the rest of the league is going to be "they're taking the piss". ;)

I do wonder if there is a little extra incentive in the fact that it is coming up ten years that Mansour has owned City means he is determined that we should be seen as genuinely competing with Real, Barca, Juve and Bayern this coming season?

I think Guardiola has challenged the ownership. They talk a lot about wanting to be on the same level as Bayern and Real but their recruitment needs to reflect that. Winning the PL and the CL in the same season currently seems impossible due to the physical demands required to sustain the challenge on both fronts and those sides have genuine depth of world class talent. We hopefully will have that in the next 12 months.

Yeah, very weak might be a bit of an exaggeration, Juve may well pick up the Champions League title, but compared with the premier league my impression is that it is a bit more tactical and not quite as fast. The Italian managers that have come over here have done well , though there haven't been too many top players that have come over and impressed in the premier league.
Perhaps. I just seen JUve strolling it every year. I checked on wiki and they have won it for 6 years in a row now

I'm sure Pep had a few home truths to tell them. He constantly refers to adapting to the qualities of your players and we have not seen him implement full-on a fair bit of what he would want to do yet.

So true , no point appointing a manager like Guardiola if you don't give him the type of player he needs for his style of football

maybe so, I think Khaldoon's tone was quite clear "they're being given what they need, now they have no excuses, we expect the rewards now".

If anyone's interesting, I decided to make a video on how we could lineup next season if we make the signings we want.... Ederson, Mendy, Bernardo Silva etc

I could be wildly wrong of course, but ah well! It's a challenge fitting them all in.

We really need a new plane to track or something, the season just ended and am already bored to tears

I like it and think it's close mate but we'd be fools to bench Sane. He needs to be a starter and will progress to be world class.

Agree man. It's not what id do either. My reasoning is that this XI would be for a big gsme and in that instance I think he'd want inverted wingers and he'd go for Sanchez's tenacity and Bernardo's control cos possession is vital for him in these games. Happy to be very wrong though.

i think stones should be first choice. he needs to be starting every week imo. thats the only way he will develop into a top centre back, if hes rotated every week i can't see how that benefits him. likewise if we buy vvd he would be on the bench most weeks.

I know where youre coming from, but Sanchez would surely have to start ahead of him (playing a bit of fantasy football).

Steve Davies?

I would personally play this, which I think is our strongest and most balanced side (if we sign the players we are supposed to)

Ederson
Walker kompany Otamendi mendy
Dinho
KDB silva
Sane Aguero Sanchez

Subs: bravo, yaya, kolarov, gundogan, B silva, Sterling, Jesus

Too many cooks...
I understand the need to be stocked all over the pitch, but it seems a bit absurd we'd have ~£180m of recently spent money on the bench + Aguero. Although I do agree with the sentiment Aguero will see less playing time with the arrival of Alexis, I could see Aguero forcing a move at that point. It's a bit fantasy football and I think too crowded has just as many problems as "not crowded enough".

I really tend to agree with this sentiment that Guardiola has come in and shown the club how much we lag behind the best despite having high ambitions.

He surely will have humbled the club in terms of its recruitment after the 2012 title win if nothing else.
