Islamic Terrorism: is religion/belief no matter how misguided, the main motivator?

Might have jumped the gun there. Western forces are getting blamed for dropping a WP bomb.

All a bit chaotic at the minute.
Well if its full off them fkers,so be it wonder if them 4000virgins waiting for them like a man without body hair..

just like any religion people are using their own warped views of what they believe in, pushing these views on others and causing the murders.

In this case with Islamic terrorism, its no surprise the Saudi interpretation Wahhabism is the version of the Koran alot of these terrorist scum read.

Willie Pete is extremely common in munitions. It's what is used in smoke grenades and incendiary bombs. It's not outlawed and you will find traces of it on every battlefield.

True. However, as an aside, my dad and his mates were issued with phosphorous grenades and wooden dum-dum bullets
when on active service in the Ardennes. As you'll no doubt know, one causes agonising burns that continue even
under water, the bullets splinter and spread throughout the body, making medical help extremely difficult.
This, despite their banning under the Geneva convention, apparently, it was in response to SS atrocities against British troops.

Interesting article in today's FT about Qatar being isolated by its neighbours for supporting terrorism.
Saudi Arabia and three other Arab nations have severed diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar, claiming Doha’s regional policies fuel extremism and terrorism. The unprecedented attempt to isolate the Gulf state includes Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, and escalates a dispute over Qatar’s support for political Islamist groups and perceptions that Doha is open to closer ties with Iran, Saudi Arabia’s arch-rival. Citing an official source, the Saudi news agency said the kingdom was cutting ties for the “protection of national security from the dangers of terrorism and extremism”. The four Arab states said they would close air and sea transport links with Qatar, the world’s top exporter of liquefied natural gas and the host of an important US military base in the Middle East. The three Gulf states have also blocked their nationals from travelling to Qatar and given Qataris two weeks to leave their countries. They said they would pursue legal avenues in an attempt to block friendly countries and companies transiting to and from Qatar across their airspace. The closure of Qatar’s only land border with Saudi Arabia threatens food supplies to the import dependent state, which is set to host the World Cup football tournament in 2022.

A fair few verses could do with being changed in the Quran. Wont hold my breath mind.
I think it's more the interpretation that's the problem, The Quran and the bible were written over a thousand years ago for a completely different time. Anybody who takes them literally in a modern world is always going to struggle. The same with the 2nd Amendment in the US, it was written in mind of people keeping muskets and flintlocks in case the British decided to re-invade, not so some nutcase could have 3 pistols and an AK-47 for "self-defence".
People should be taught to read books like the Bible and the Quran with an open mind. After all, the Bible attacks homosexuality etc. if I remember correctly.
