Ryan Bertrand

I see him as a step down from Mendy. I was hoping this window we wouldn't have any plan B signings.

You always need a "plan b"...not all our targets will want to come,I believe Aguero was a "plan b"????....not 100% with that though.
Also going off what TH suggested,we want both,so he ain't a plan b,unless I've misinterpreted THs post.

Did you listen to the POD that Billyshears did with him on 93:20? He was explaining the mechanics of transfer deals and reporting on them and how "Sources" can change there info within a timeframe of having a lunch.
I don't doubt he has various sources and contacts around City and the fringes (Agents and Players) and he listens to whats being offered up makes a decision of "Going with it" by weighing up if it makes sense down to listening to how many different sources are saying similar news. There's also "Halve truths" to sieve through and judge where other clubs and agents are jockeying "News" for their own agenda's.
Sam definitely isn't a WUM, but rather a good honest guy who lets us know what he can using information he has to determine if it is as close to a genuine truth as possible.
As we all know, and Tolmie also tells us this. There is always fluidity in transfers and the clubs transfer dealings are not all black and white and info can be invalid as soon as it leaves someone's lips due to no fault or intention to mislead.
Apart from the good honest bit, he sounds like a fortune teller.

Makes sense IF it's as well as Mendy. Like others have said we need two left-backs. Getting both would be excellent. Right back isn't as pressing for two because of Fernandinho. Hopefully Pep recognises that if Mendy was to get an injury Kolarov isn't a good enough left back for a sustained run of games.

So is Kolarov an out and out centre back now?
Seems like it. To be honest, Kolarov is not good enough at full back. I would be concerned having to play Kolarov for sustained period because of potential injury to 1st choice left back (Mendy)

4th choice CB is probably Kolarov's role next season and then released after next season as his contract is up next summer.

What age is this lad,at the end of the day it's pep who supposedly wants him so that's good enough for me,I was actually getting him mixed up with the other Southampton lad who has had a decent season redmond I think it is..

He'll be 28 when the season begins.

Does this look a legitimate go-er'?

I like the lad and as part of "left back by committee" of sorts I think it would be a good move.
