Historically the Tories have even been proud of it, always sceptical of intellectuals, a whiff of continental Johnny foreigner about all that brainy highfalutin stuff, as opposed to good old fashioned British common sense.

That's why Gove was so comfortable with that Britons have had enough of experts tosh, there's a proud tradition of respectable stupidity in the Tory Party, always has been.
