It's Quiet - a new dawn

I think even if we dont get sachez but secure mendy, that's enough to easily win the title.
Wit mendy we will have the best squad in the league by far. We also have the best manager by far.
Not counting chickens before they are hatched, winning anything will be a tough ask but we have a better squad than last year if we sign the players we want. Other teams will also strengthen so there is no such thing as a foregone conclusion IMO. First objective get 40 points ASAP and then we will see what happens.

Winning the title is never easy bud and with our rivals strengthening too, I think it will become increasingly difficult to easily win again

Can't help but think we need to sign backups at both fullback positions. I'm not confident in Dinho as backup RB due to the fact that he'll certainly be needed at DM and can't be using his energy when Walker needs to be rotated around. I like that we're after Bertrand as well, but I'll feel much more confident knowing we have a true RB to fill in in case Walker needs resting or gets injured.

I've seen Fernandinho bandied about as backup RB and I'm with you...not a fan of it at all. Fuckin alves.

Plenty of time to go yet but so far I don't think any of our rivals have strengthened, maybe Arsenal but thats only if they hold onto Sanchez.

I hear you guys but it's fun to dream :)

I actually genuinely don't.

The longer summer is going on the more it looks like we'll be considerably ahead of them unless they catch up, and while we've arguably addressed our biggest weaknesses (GK, fullback, a Silva replacement) they've done nothing really.

British football is primed for another dominant club in the era of Superclubs, and at the moment we're looking best poised to go into this crucial season in much better shape.

Guardiola was only just getting started last year, and I look at our rivals and see nothing that's going to stop their problems.

How is it primed?

Because European football is becoming dominated by a superclubs, money is becoming more and more concentrated at the top, the best players are going to fewer and fewer teams but being stacked 2 deep in every position, and if someone can get that kickstart winning 3 or 4 leagues, they could become as dominant as United in the 90's.

the competition isn't even that close either, look at last years league and say it was close? Chelsea won it because everyone else was rebuilding, but another bad season for their club and Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte or Wenger could go, maybe even 2 of them. So then 2 teams are rebuilding and out of competition for a while.

Long term Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal won't compete financially, so really we just need to be better run, and more stable than Chelsea and United and I don't think that's too hard these days.

Realistically Spurs and Liverpool can't compete, Chelsea's organisation is looking shambolic and United have put all their eggs in a manager who can't do long term stability.

If this team Pep is building can win 3 league titles in 5 years then I'm pretty sure we'd see the others fall away as our revenue would snowball massively.
May happen in less competitive leagues but I just dont see it happening in the PL anytime soon. Too many good clubs now with money and decent managers & players.

It's a short term thing though.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs can't compete financially long term. Spurs have been elevated by Pochettino but that's short term, it'll go when he does. Arsenal's board will never invest enough to out do the big spenders and Liverpool similar.

So then you've got Mourinho and Conte, both one bad season away from resigning, and the new coach coming in will need to rebuild.

If we were to win, for example, the next 2 league seasons, Mourinho, Conte, Wenger & Pochettino would be gone. Suddenly there's not so many great coaches and suddenly we've got quite a lot more money than all of them.
