Kylian Mbappe

Is 180 mill Euro's 'crazy money' ? The market was crazy 5 years ago, maybe even 10 years ago or when in England mainly United and Chelsea were paying vast amounts of money for players, and like Real and Barcelona have done for decades.
Btw, are we even in a position to talk about 'crazy money' with City overpaying for several players over the recent years? And at what point is it actually 'crazy money' ?

I still stand by my point of view the worth of what has been paid is to be decided at the moment the player leaves the club. Nobody can tell his worth in a few years time. It's simply an investment with hopefully a better outcome for the investor. And from that point of view I wouldn't mind if City paid that kind of money for Mbappe. I would enjoy us getting the player the manager wants and proves the owners it was the right choice as in a good investment.
To value Mbappe almost the same as Neymar is pathetic.

[Info Paris U] Except a turnaround, we are able to confirm that @KMbappe should be Paris before August 31.

Hedging his bets that bloke, except for a turnaround and he should instead of will be in paris, lots of wiggle room in that tweet
It's a translation by Bing or Google or whatever. You shouldn't be hanging onto every word. It's a rough translation. Besides they said the same for Neymar.

"Jorge Mendes and Monaco are working together on a deal, not a small deal. The idea would be in the event of Mbappe leaving to make a big hit on the market with a reputed player."

Not saying it's Ronaldo (which sounds absolutely ridiculous) but interesting who it could be.

Nasri

Fair play if they do get him. Not confirmed till he's stood with PSG shirt however.
They way I see it Madrid won't pay up. Perez said publicly that they are happy with the current squad and they don't need to make any changes. We've got this weird thing where we're trying to lowball Monaco and won't pay that much. PSG have gone mad and are ready to pay whatever's being asked. And the people who are worried out FFP - PSG are willing to sell DiMaria, Aurier, etc. for big money and get the wage bill down too.

i dont see this coming down to money...it will be all about where the kid himself wants to play...will he choose madrid or paris over us....thats what it will come to....if we are in for him as we are reliably informed then the people in charge of doing these deals must have an idea of the price that will be needed....

i think the lad will choose madrid....
Surely if it were as clear cut as that, we would have walked away by now

Doesn't amount to shit. This is pretty much like the Neymar transfer. Mbappe's dad wants to see as much money as possible and Monaco won't budge from their valuation of 180 mil. Mbappe might fancy a move to a different club in the future. Who knows? But right now, I'm finding it incredibly difficult to believe that our owners are okay with sanctioning this deal.

If PSG do get Mbappe, they will have absolutely decimated this transfer window, well and truly and I for one will be completely and utterly envious.

I don't know why they care, its pocket change to them. If they want the best, sometimes they have to pay a very extortionate premium. If we really want to win the champs league any time soon, now is our time to get the next Ronaldo.

Greedy daddies are destroying football market :D

Surely City must have known it would be a high price for someone like this? if these meetings between Pep etc have been held then they must have been all in..But 180m is too much maybe we had a set amount to max out at. All speculation anyway, we could have a deal set and nobody knows. Or he's indeed gone to PSG, our name hasn't been mentioned at all in France it seems which works both ways.

Question... bar on here where have Monaco actually stated they'd want £180m? I'm not saying they haven't I'm just asking where are the direct quotes, statement or evidence of such? I'm genuinely interested as to if this amount is pure speculation from the media & pundits or a hard fact.
Personally I can't see him going for more than £90m plus probably £30m in add ons based on certain criteria. But if they have publicly stated £180m then in reality they'll not get that, that'll be the try to scare them off price.

Kinda agree, there won't be a better time to make a superstar signing anytime soon. Now or never.
Is that an exorbitant price? It's all relative, Utd just paid 90m for a wooden Lukaka after all... And I'm not sure that it's a market 'bubble', not a strong tendency.
