Welcome Benjamin Mendy

I remember we took exception to it.
Us City fans? Taking offence from a utd player mocking one of our players? Well fancy that.
I'd say the context was a tad different as well. Losing a major international final and scoring an OG in a game you were already losing are hardly comparable.

But the media didn't, and there's the rub. You expect Brighton and their fans to be not happy about it but why is everyone else jumping up and down like someone shoved a jalapeño up their arses. When was the last time any of these channels or pundits kicked up a stink on our behalf. That's right, I can't think of one either.
Bitter bastards, fuck 'em all.

Did I say it did? He can do what he wants I guess.(unless the club have a quiet word) Just doesn't float my boat taking the piss out of other teams players. Others will agree with me as does frank lampard who is clearly a very decent bloke and ex blue.
I'm sitting on the fence with this one. However I love it that we have a NICE guy who has a 'balo' type edge to him. He's not out to be nasty, just being mischievous

Where was the media out rage when Lingaard chanted "why don't city fuck off home" after the Europa final, when they claimed that Manchester was "A City United"....

Gerrard is such a precious ****, probably still crying over his slip. Also Linekar is always making sly jabs on MOTD, like Mendy did on Twitter yesterday, yet no one bats an eye lid! No one likes us and I dont give a fuck, I hope Mendy does it even more now just to boil everyones piss!

Taking the piss out of other footballers. It's been going on as long as the game has been played. I remember Gerrard scoring 2 penalties against us. As he ran up to take the second Joe Hart was trying to put him off as all keepers do and psyche him out ...mind games going on...nothing unusual. Exactly what happens all the time. After he dispatched it past Joe he gave him a finger sign as if to say "fuck you....second time I've stuck one past you". Nothing to get excited about it. Shame he forgets it when he's a pundit though. All morals and self-righteousness.

You were right to compare Linekar to Mendy. The common thread is that they both do it with a sense of humour and not with an edge of malice. Yes, Linekar makes remarks about us, and you would have to pretty humourless to take offence at the way he does it bit he does do it to other teams as well as us. I don't have any complaints about Linekar.

Exactly, I find Linekar funny at times... other times his jokes are typical dad jokes and painfully shit. But I've never wrote to the BBC about it, although I can imagine a few city fans have.
Gerrard is the standout precious football fan who crys at every little jab out there, you could see it when Neil Warnock said that they don't have windows in Liverpool. Gerrard awkwardly laughed, but you could tell afterwards he ran to the BT bosses crying.

You probably speak for most match going fans? Who do you think you are, lol?

Social media is a new addition to the game, and a growing one at that. For years fans have been complaining about the divide between fans and players. Social media is allowing us to bridge that gap, and dinosaurs like you can't get your head around it.

I think it's fantastic what Mendy and Batshuayi are doing. In fact, it's just the start of it. The digital world changes daily. You'd better get used to it or learn to ignore it.

Doesn't bother me enough to usually comment on it, people can do what they want on social media. But seeing as the discussion was regarding Lampard and Gerrard's comments, I agree more with their stance on it, do your talking on the pitch when it comes to opponents. Especially when the lad hasn't even played a game for us yet.

The thing is, as soon as he makes a mistake on the pitch he'll be getting slaughtered from all the same soft ****s who are whinging now. Will he cry about it? Will he fuck. He knows it's a double edged sword and if he's going to give it out he'll be able to take it when it comes back to bite him on the arse.

Gobsmacked that there are actually people agreeing with Gerrard on this. He's making a joke for god's sake. It's not insulting another player, it's nothing nasty or vindictive, it's a simple joke and I'm sure if Dunk has even the slightest fragment of humour in him, there's no way on this earth he'd take offence. He's just a bloke having a little giggle on social media while watching a game, like the millions of others. The obvious counter-argument is "But he's in a position of power! He should be more responsible!" but... what is there to be responsible about? He made a teensy tiny joke. He's not out there on the pitch calling other players n***** like certain pros or writing slimy articles about other teams like Scholes and the rest. In fact, he's doing an enormous service to fans of the game by showing that players are just humans and capable of having a laugh like the rest of us, rather than being these untouchable robots who always respond with the same pre-programmed lines in every bloody media appearance. I genuinely cannot believe he's coming under fire for this (and therefore might stop posting funny stuff or even get reprimanded by the staff, which would be f***ing unreal).

And then you've got Lamps and Gerrard saying "He shouldn't do it cause he'll make a mistake someday too!" Yeah well guess what? I reckon Mendy has enough bloody wherewithal to actually suck it up if he makes a mistake and people tweet about him! He's not a precious little snowflake and neither are any of the other players. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him respond to people and laugh at himself over it too, unless it was something serious that lost us a match. He's clearly a good-natured lad who isn't gonna get all moody and defensive if someone says something about him. What is the world coming to when people start taking offense over crap like this... It's literally impossible to do almost anything these days without someone tooting the "This has gone too far!" horn.

Unbelievable. Honestly. Wow. And to think there are people going against him, even on here... blows my mind. We all know exactly what the internet is like, exactly what the grounds are like, people scream and shout the worst obscenities known to man at every player on the pitch and write the most disgusting things about them online, but all of that is fine and dandy because we're all nobodies, but as soon as a player makes the tiniest, most harmless joke I think I've ever seen, he gets attacked. :| We should be encouraging this sort of stuff! Nobody wants to get to a point where players are just attacking each other, obviously, but a guy showing a bit of personality for once is such a refreshing thing in this world of "The most important thing is we got the 3 points." "The team did well today." "Yeah it felt good to score a goal but the important thing is the team did well and we got the 3 points." I'd LOVE to see more players actually being honest, sharing a little bit of who they are, interacting with the fans, proving that they're humans and they sit around and have fun in front of the games with their mates just like the rest of us. At a time when PL football seems more exclusive than ever, it'd be nice to see that these 50 million pound players are, at their core, just people too.

Bullet header(tongue in cheek) tweet gets aired live on telly.

scum players singing "why don't city fuck off home" soon after the Manchester arena......... Nowt

the only guy that could suffer from that tweet is mendy, it will probably come to bite him in the ass when he inevitably make a mistake playing for us so I don't see why all prima donnas are out for him.
