The fact is that if a man stands up to corrupt banks (not all banks, just the corrupt ones) he's lauded as a man of the people. If a woman does it she's a shrew who doesn't understand how financial institutions work even though she's taught bankruptcy and commercial law at the most prestigious law school in America.

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that a man w/ the same background wouldn't be so easily dismissed.

I'd have argued the same about Barney Frank, and he was on the board of a bank, until he actually had to solve problems. Then he had a pretty steep learning curve.

You'd be excused for thinking you traveled back in time looking at the shit show that is happening over there. Fucking nazis proudly marching in the open in America in 2017. Fuck sake.
That's hardly the story, the real story is that the POTUS isn't quite sure he thinks they're wrong. He's always held the opinion that people who praise him are inherently right and just while people who criticize him deserve no respect. The alt-right are his base and he'll continue to be okay with them.

It's not that he isn't sure if they're right or wrong. He really doesn't give a shit about that. The only thing he cares about is that they provide a good percentage of his support and for that reason there's no way he'll ever criticise them directly.

Well actually, in a democracy should they not be allowed to march? Their ideals may be abhorrent, but they should have a right to march.

Agreed. As I've said before, I don't think he's a racist. But they're the strongest portion of his base, the true acolytes. He won't disavow them. Zero principles. Amorality run amok. And all perfectly predictable.

Of course they should be allowed to march if they do it peacefully. Also the anti Nazis should be allowed to demonstrate against them without fuckwits saying that there's some sort of equivalence between the two groups; and without the risk of being mowed down by a Nazi.

Everything about Trump says 'daddy issues'. Anyone suprised to hear that Daddy was a KKK member?

Yep, but there's an equal right for others to not be intimidated. That is kind of the point of society. To be technical, we give up our right to violence to the state, and in return the state protects us from intimidation and violence - and fights our wars. Law and order.

It's strictly enforced because law and order broke down in 30's germany due to the marching clubs. They were essentially political armies made up of ordinary thugs, and were at the centre of Kristallnacht. If you look back at footage of the time, one of the features of Nazi germany was that anyone belonging to a target group - jews, etc - were openly harrassed and beaten in the streets by ordinary germans. It didn't happen overnight, it was the result of public lawlessness and violence becoming a normal everyday occurance.

So these guys turned up in Nazi regalia, army hats, body armor and shields, torches and klan hats. Sing about killing jews etc. People are going to be scared witless. Shows of force are not compatible with democracy, and neither is intimidation - you can't tolerate it, because it's targetted. Every citizen has the same right to protection from violence and intimidation, regardless of belief, creed etc. And the endgame for the gangs is always the same - creating a situation where people are afraid of going to the polls, to influence elections.

I've criticised Corbyn for this in the past. Every time he's in trouble, rent-a-crowd turn up with placards. It's hard to be intimidated by yoghurt eating knitted hat wearing women with banners saying 'let's not bomb Afghanistan' and so on. Point is, they don't target any group, carry torches, wear body armor, drive cars into crowds of people or drag young black men into underpasses and - outnumbering the victim 5 to 1 - beat said young man with metal poles.

McMaster just said it met the definition of domestic terrorism. 'Anytime that you commit an attack against people to incite fear, it is terrorism.

"a criminal act against fellow Americans. A criminal act that may have been motivated — and we'll see what's turned up in this investigation — by this hatred and bigotry, which I mentioned we have to extinguish in our nation."

Refused to say if he could work with Bannon. The federal enquiry has been launched by Session. It's a fair bet Sessions detests Bannon and his fellow white nationalists, having been directly targetted by the Breitbart/Trumpbot internet machine after he recused himself from the Russia enquiry.

I'm in quiet awe of McMaster and Mattis, what a fearless and selfless pair. Stepping up to the plate when anyone with any sense was running in the opposite direction.

First order of business was getting the bad guys out of Homeland Security and the National Security Council. God knows there were plenty of them.

One of them was found to have written a memo titled 'Political Warfare' which suggested Donald was at war against a cabal of Deep State Actors, Marxists, Islamist, Bankers, Globalists and Establishment Republicans. The language used was biblical. Proper fruitcake stuff. McMaster went on to clean house, getting rid of a whole bunch of appointees linked to Bannon.

Compare that to Mattis' concise and eloquent memo to all service personnel;

Interesting timing and choice of phrase, I thought.

Why? (Test question - should neo-Nazis be allowed to march to Cheetham Hill / Prestwich / Didsbury and make Nazi salutes outside synagogues?)

Concise and eloquent? It could mean anything or nothing.
