This is the reason why this is probably going to happen I think. The club must be ultra confident of getting Sanchez which will take a large chunk of the transfer budget and Evans is HG, premier league experienced and in terms of cost is relatively cheap in todays transfer market
I'm personally starting to get a Sanchez+N'zonzi vibe atm. That would probably be around 100 mill.

I can't see this happening because WBA are stubborn based on the Berahino example. They shot themselves in the foot and set back his career by years for the sake of making the point.

To all those still bigging up mangala
1 he is shit
2 cant defend
3 can't attack
4 no composure
5 Valencia don't want him back
6 no one else wants him and No obe will buy him

He had one good game against Chelsea
But then everyone worked out he is shit

Evans may not be great but he is an upgrade
But there again so is Titus bramble

Only problem with your long list is Valencia did want him. Can't afford it, 333 million in debt.
Other clubs . E.g. Milan do want him.

The rest is your opinion.

fingers crossed they stick to their principles then!!!!

Mangala is not a bad defender. Not at all.

In the old school sense he's more than decent. He's big/strong and quick.

However he's not a footballer in the Pep sense. He is useless with his feet and there is always a mistake in there.

He'll fit right in at Juve

Could Evans signing close the new dawn thread?

If anyone at city reads this site they might want to have a word with pep about this as the experts have decided Evans is a no goer.

For me, it's not about Jonny Evans, if he comes fine, like most others i'll back him all the way. Similarly, if we're shopping at that level because we're spending the money elsewhere, then that's fine.

It's more an increasing concern that after years of knowing this is a problem position, the best our scouts have been able to muster by way of remedy is paying £38m for Mangala, £50m for Stones who wasn't a first team regular at Everton and now Jonny Evans. Is that it ? Somehow, they also missed Van Dijk who could have been bought at a fraction of the price from Celtic where we actually had a player playing next to him and who we were, presumably watching week in week out.

The "we can't afford to gamble" argument doesn't stack up either. We did just that on Mangala and Stones. Mangala has failed and I'm yet to be convinced by Stones.

Good Point.

This is a very disappointing development! Ok he fits the 'type' and has loads of experience but is he really good enough?

I'd much rather give Tosin a chance!

Distraction Tactic? Make someone think we've switched our attention to try and put pressure on?

I can understand Homegrown / Cheap (For 2017) & experience arguements, but it smacks of a Rodwell / Sinclair era signing.

Surely this window so far has proved we're beyond that?

Forget the price tag and is is a rag its a sensible choice as back. Bottom line though why does he want to come and sit on our bench? Unless its not driving to the West Brom every day and the extra money, he can sit back and enjoy the next 3 years as a blue. [emoji2]
