Name me another option for less then 25mil? Keane was 30mil and isn't as good neither is Gibson who is quoted similar figures. And you are correct in stating Evans is a do for now signing but you are wrong comparing him to those players they were signed based on potential and the belief that that could adjust to the league and those risks didn't pay off Evans is a very low risk signing. Bar stones and Cahill Evans is the best home grown CB out there in my opinion. His fee is high but the market is mad, watch him play left sided CB, comfortable with either foot, good on the ball, good in the air, good positioning which helps as he isn't the fastest, strong and determined. If he wasn't a rag most people would be happier purely based on football not money or past its hard to think of reasons why he wouldnt be a great addition to the teamsheet.
Transfermarkt has Keane down as having a transfer fee of £25.65m. He is far superior to Evans.
Evans will be another player who in relatively short time we will not want, who will be stuck on a high salary no one as will be prepared to match.

We start the transfer window with Bernardo Silva the club ramp up the expectation with more quality signings and showing past great transfer windows on the OS implicating this one could top the lot don't dismiss whispers re Sanchez, Mbappe mysterious CB and then we finish the window with Jonnny F***ing Evans!!!

So it's gone from £18m to £25m to £35m in the space of 24 hours.

At this rate we will eclipse what we paid for Walker and Mendy.

Christmas for WBA

SKY: Evans had a 57% tackle success rate......."The Worst tackle success rate out of the 39 defenders that played more than 30 games last season"

City have 2 foreign spots open, why it has to be HG?

It's not really about the fact he's h/g. It's about the fact that he know the league, has performed well in the league, and displays the characteristics that Pep requires. I appreciate that we shouldn't just fall into line and continually say "Pep knows best", but at the same time it's pretty sad reading this thread. It's fairly easy IMO to be objective, look at his strengths/weaknesses, the way he's performed in the last couple of seasons, and deduce "yeah, as 4th choice CB he'll do".

Peps history in the transfer market doesnt exactly inspire confidence espeically when it comes to centre backs.

You may be right, but I doubt that he is concerned that the posters on BM don't approve of his signings .

And I seriously doubt that he would actively seek the thoughts of many either !

Ive watched him a lot. Think hes average as fuck. He'll probably do an okay job at 4th choice centre back but I would rather see us give Tosin a shot rather splashing so much cash on a guy who wouldnt improve us.

Rather we just say fuck it and spend 70 odd mill on vvd than circa 25 million on evans tbh

Has he really performed that well? WBA play so differently to us it's a gamble at 10 million.

I have watched him play many, many, times and he is crap, the facts are there for all to see, he has kicked plenty of balls, mainly opposition players balls, my opinion is not as ridiculous as your spelling of ridiculous either..!
He hasn't kicked a single ball for us and you can predict the future - well done you. As I said (and others too), you are not stating fact - just an opinion - accept it
