Alexis Sanchez

My initial thought seeing it once live, but seeing it again I'm not so sure. I also follow an ex-keeper.on Twitter who's good at talking about keeper performances (David Preece) and he said from that range and straight at him, it's difficult to close your legs in time.

More questions on defence in general and Stones in particular who gave Shrek the space. Plus Sane for the assist...
Just re watched the goal we conceded Silva was tracking back with Rooney and then just let him go unmarked to the edge of our penalty box without a defender anywhere near!

+1
Shit happens - Aguero played well - his chip to Silva was awesome. But... he did have an open shot on goal following a pass from KDB and then took an extra touch which didn't work out. But no one's perfect.

Jesus is going through a bit of a cold spell at present too - not burring chances he normally would.

Sanchez will add to the mix - not detract. Pep will play the most in form of his squad at the positions they play best. It's possible that Aguero, Jesus and Sanchez will all start.
========
And I'm still optimistic that we'll sign Sanchez - crazy for Arsenal to hold on to Sanchez simply to lose him to us on a free next year.
If Sanchez is to start we could do with him actually signing first

And the '2' are often 2 yards too slow, to do anything but watch.

We aren't conceding half chances due to quality football, we are conceding nailed on chances due to the kind of football we could play in the 3rd division.t

If a team wants to score v City, it should be fucking difficult & require skill or subterfuge.

It isn't, any old obvious bog standard shit football move can do it.

Any team is calable of it at any time, no matter how well we are playing.

"Oh yes but we miss chances" Yes we do. But what if their keeper plays well & we only score 1 ?

We lose ?

I think its also the reason teams appear to up their game against us compared to other top sides. They know at any moment a long ball over the top or a decent cross and they have a real chance to score.

Teams dont turn up at us already defeated because any team in the league could score against us and scrap a win / draw defending for their lifes. No matter how much we dominate with 70% possession, we always will give them a chance and often a good chance while we pass the ball around endlessly hoping to wear them down.

If we put teams to the sword they wouldnt be able to try sucker punch us as we would already be out of sight.

Hopefully Ederson won't prove to be the hologram that Bravo was.

And yeah really, Sky had the stats up for Kat season before the game. We had the most shots and conceded the fewest.
What percentage of the chances we conceded were converted into goals, when compared to other teams though?... that's the question

Actually I have just read Pep's interview after the game and he said last season we converted 16% of the chances we created, which appears shockingly poor.

As good as he has been for us,that's no surprise where Aguero is concerned,he needs half a dozen opportunities before he puts one away.We need a more lethal option,is that Sanchez?

Bloody Hell. Proof, if ever needed, that a clinical finisher is ñeeded urgently. Thats appauling

The rest of the league and most of Europe would describe Aguero as clinical, his goal record since joining would also support this... our forwards do need to put away more chances, but to say we don't have a clinical striker is just not true.

Well it was the whole team not just Aguero but I know what you mean. He has definitely changed in his chance taking from when he first arrived, it is odd.

It is true. We need so many chances to score but we don't take them. Aguero should have smashed that chance he had the other night, yet he decides to lob the keeper, then he had a chance which he decided not to take a shot. He scores a lot of goals over the course of the season, but that's down to the number of chances we create.

Not in the role Pep's currently asking him to play, he isnt
Don't see what the role Pep's asking him to play has to do with it. He's doing what Pep wants and still getting chances. The problem seems to be when he gets himself a goal scoring opportunity he isn't scoring as often from chances he would have done a couple of seasons ago. Though from what I've seen so far this season I would pick him ahead of Jesus at the moment. The strange one on Monday was the one when he took the touches in a position similar to where he scored against Brighton.
